ITmedia checks out Panasonic' SV-SD90 and SV-SD100v
So it looks like ITmedia in Japan got to peep
Panasonic's
D-snap SV-SD90 and SV-SD100V. Of course, we can't really
read Japanese to give you the full rundown (well, our man Gareth can, but he's busy at his day job being a
ninja flipping out and stuff) but we've got a pretty good
idea of what they'd say: it's small, it's cute, it runs on SD, so what's not to like? Besides the fact that we can't
get them over here, yet, of course.

Panasonic (and everyone else) dropped that SDMI crap right? No more proprietary software to copy mp3s? All I want to know is: Can I access it as a Mass-Storage device?
mollyhackit @ Dec 19th 2005 12:53AM
From the translation it appears you can store files on it, but you won't be able to play mp3s you have to go through software.

Fingerprint magnet.

If it's got SD memory card compatability, then I would imagine that you can just access it as a mass storage device and drag and drop mp3's onto it. I don't think that they will make it so that the entire SD memory card has to be reserved excusively for that mp3 player's use. I'm not sure if any of that made any sense, but in my head, it did...I swear.

It looks like I will be upgrading. I love my tiny Panasonic SV but it looks pretty old school now. Mine is spec'd to have all of the SD security features but they have never gotten in the way of free access to the player. The display looks rad on this one.
