MCC's Modular PC

Modular PC

Handtops.com has a review of the Modular PC, MCC's new computing system (for lack of a better word) which consists of a 9 ounce computing core that runs on Windows XP and has a 1GHz Transmeta processor, 256MB, and a 20GB hard drive that you're supposed to pop into different shells (it appears to be a rebadged version of the Antelope). Right now there are only two shells available, a Micro Tablet Shell with a 6.3-inch screen if you want to use it as a handheld, and a Desktop Dock, which comes with a PCMCIA slot, 3 USB ports, and a VGA port for connecting to a monitor, but a laptop shell is also in the works. Not a bad idea—we wouldn't mind having all that the flexibility—but the pricing is all wrong: they want $1,990 for just the core, $990 for the Micro Tablet Shell, and another $190 for the Desktop Dock.
