Toshiba's Dynabook SS SX

Toshiba Dynabook SS SX

Sony left a pretty gaping hole in the laptop world when they withdrew their massively overpriced yet oh-so-svelte super-miniaturized laptop, the X505—but it looks like Toshiba's new Dynabook SS SX looks to play substitute. It shouldn't be much of a problem with a 1.2GHz Pentium M Ultra Low Voltage CPU, 12.1-inch XGA display, 60GB hard drive, up to 1.25GB DDR2 SDRAM, Bluetooth, Gigabit ethernet, integrated 802.11b/g WiFi, and that razor-thin 9.9mm profile (okay, we know, it's technically 0.2mm thicker than the X505, happy?). The footprint, however, is a little larger—11.25 x 9-inches to the Sony's 10.07 x 8.19—but we know you'll figure out a way to live with it. And the biggest bonus of all may be that the keyboard isn't fitted towards the bottom anymore, meaning you also get the ever-beloved trackpad. Please, no one end the fantasy by actually figuring out this thing's gonna cost, ok?
