Sony's RDZ-D5 double-layer home DVD burner
This home DVD burner from Sony is not only bi-curious with its DVD-R/DVD+R support (very trendy), but is also rocking the whole double-layer thing, as well. The RDZ-D5 has an internal 250GB drive to handle a bunch of video recording storage onboard.

I can already see kids 20 years from now not being able to imagine life without this.
I look for this to set me back in the 4-figure territory...
Seriously, with sony's added premium, 4 figures is likely.
I know companies want to make a profit but don't they want to help consumers obtain these products? Cost effectiveness? Why make them if no one will buy them?
At least the price of the Dual Layer media has come down a lot.

The best price I've seen on dual layer media so far is about $5 or $6 per disc. Until the prices come down, a unit like this isn't much use as far as the dual layer goes. If they were rewritable, sure, fill em up, delete some stuff, put new stuff on it, etc. But if you're just going to record a few episodes of Survivor on the thing, loan it to some friends, then throw it away, it hardly seems worth it.
Just hope it will be selling in Australia Shore in the near future.

Not bad at all.
