Maiden Outdoor's Bluetooth billboards
Maiden Outdoor are nearing completion of adding Bluetooth capability to their massive LED billboards located around the UK, Protein Feed reports. Volvo looks to be one of the first test cases, giving travellers at Heathrow airport the option to download a clip of one of seven adverts; cellphone users need to set their phone to discoverable mode to receive them. This obviously isn't the first time Bluetooth has been used to reach unsuspecting passersby — earlier this year, New Order outfitted posters for their new album with Bluetooth to beam song clips and ringtones straight to people's cellphones.

Ohohoh, please let this lead to billboard hacking.
why would anyone want to do that? yes please i want more spam!
Gareth, you make a point, but it might be cool to download a sample track from a new album you see advertised from the ad itself. Downloading custom ads is really just a proof of concept app at the moment.
And geez - look at all those security cameras. They are really afraid their giant bluetooth tv will be stolen.
Looks like those screens are at quite a few places.
The pic there looks like kings cross, one of them is waterloo, and another is charing cross. im assuming their mainly at large overground train stations, so victoria, euston and maybe paddington
Might go and have a look tomorrow, or at latest the weekend.
Hey, go for it.
I remember back in 2001, when I was on vacation in NYC, they were doing the same thing with Palm Pilots and beaming. Hold your Palm up to the spot, and you got an application for something (I can't remember what) beamed in. I dug it.
