Creative Zen Micro Photo previewed

Well, we knew some changes were on the horizon for the Creative Zen Micro Photo this fall, and CNet has some more details. It'll see the bump up to 8GB that we already knew about, plus the display will be using some new trademarked BriteVue technology, though it's not really clear what that actually entails. You'll get 10 color choices for the unit, and what's hopefully a gorgeous screen — but there's no video support, and these days a color screen on a DAP is far from novel anymore. The Zen Micro Photo will also be shipping with a bare minimum of accessories, unlike its predecessor the non-photo Zen Micro when it first shipped. All of these factors will probably the dampen the impact of the Zen Micro Photo by the time it hits this fall, though at $249 it should still be a fairly good deal for the price/storage ratio.
