TUNEWALLET nano iPod nano case
Well, that was quick. TUNEWEAR has announced one of the first cases designed for the iPod nano called the "TUNEWALLET nano." Set to go on sale in October for an unknown price, the case is about as basic as you can get: it's made of leather, has an access hole for headphone jack, and features clear windows to protect the unit's screen and allow control using the wheel. Err, like we didn't see that one (and about 4,000 identical products) coming. At least it features an additional pocket for your license, credit card, or Black Lotus.

not hate on this product....but I could totally see some fatass using it as a wallet with their nano and sitting on and crushing the screen....
Kiryen @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
which is why you put it in your front pocket, so you can snap it in half when you lean over to Tap(TM) your black lotus.

Hahaha, well done on the Black Lotus reference. I haven't seen anything that cool related to Magic since...well...actually thats the coolest thing to ever grace the topic of Magic: The Gathering.
jason @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
heh black lotus like that incredibly valuable card from Magic: The gathering?
bluetrane @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
nice ref on the lotus. took me back to 1993 =P

whats funny is that when i first saw this on TUAW.com the other day, the headphone plug wasn't there - now it is, maybe cause of comments over there that this was obviously a photoshopped prototype.
not a bad thing, i guess, but worthy of pointing out. i think.

Woah, a Magic: The Gathering reference. I seriously had to check the comments to make sure I wasn't just hallucinating. Ahhh... the joys of Junior High school... when wolves called their kindred across the frozen plains.
*sniff* Would be a happy memory if that game wasn't such a money sinkhole. Chess, anyone?

Nice... now you can get not only your iPod stolen, but your wallet, too!
jon @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
With respect to the fatass sitting on it, ArsTechnica did a pretty extensive damage assessment on the nano ( found at http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/3 ), and knowing what they found, i doubt you'd be able to crush this thing by pressing a couple hundred pounds of squishy mass on it.

omg, VERY good reference to the black lotus. hahahahaha *sigh* those were the days.
Mark @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
Why take a beautiful nano and shroud it in something ugly and ordinary?
sridhar @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
anyone know of a simple nano case comparable to the simple, official original ipod case that was black and had a belt clip? id preferably not want a belt clip, though...
allen @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
Does it really fit a Black Lotus? I mean... the card itself is wider then the Nano. I certainly don't want to bend the card.
LQCaradoc @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
Hmm, that actually gives me an idea, I wonder how well card sleeves would fit my new nano. Cheap, disposable and keep smudges off the screen. Not sure if the wheel will work through the plastic but worth a try.
Peter @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
but if you wanted to use the black lotus:
A - what color would you use it for?
B - you would have to sacrifice it, ergo losing your beloved nano.
Mike @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
While giving my nano it's additional charge, I wrapped it in Toilet paper leaving one side open to slide the nano in and out.... I then wrapped everything up in duct tape. It's pretty redneck, but it works incredibly well. the TP keeps my black nano all shiny. The case has been in my pocket for a week, not scratches yet. I have to slide the ipod out to access it, but if you wanted to fancy, you could cut access holes. Just a reccomendation to get y'all by until something else comes along.
SilveRo @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
I can't believe it: I found in a store and bought a case in which my nano fits perfectly, and it costs less than 5 bucks. It is intended for holding compact flash cards, but it's good coz the internal pockets add extra padding. I wanted to share this info with you all; here is the link: http://www.caselogic.com/digital_media_case/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=58599

they should have made nanos a little bigger.. or at least the screen.. know what would be cool? a flip out screen.. or something.. ehhhhahah .. hmn and I love the icewear nano case things but I want to get a black and the white looks way better in them.. I know, im weird..
spinitch @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
Hi sridhar, i got a nano leather sleeve case from amazon. its by das blau.com. very simple, no belt click, does not take away the elegance of the nano. i love my sleeve. i am thinking of even getting another color. go to: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/store-name=miscellaneous&index=misc&search-type=ss&field-manubrand=Das%20Blau/103-7961812-7434269 to see all their current products. i emailed the company and they said they are coming out with more designs next week.
