The Incupod "humanising incubator"

Incupod

Sally Halls, an art graduate from the Royal College of Arts has won a Design for our Future Selves award with her design for the Incupod, a "humanising incubator" intended to let parents more closely care for their sick newborn babies. The Incupod consists of a heated gel mattress that folds around the baby, mimicking conditions in the mother's womb, and also includes a socket at the base of the device that pumps warm humidified air around inside. Though it's still a long way from actually being put into use, doctors seem to think it has potential to prevent the decline of civilization.
