CEATEC 2005: Hitachi

Remember that 1 terabyte recorder by Hitachi that we brought you about a month ago? Yesterday, Hitachi had a demo unit that would make any case-modder smile with glee. They had the top replaced with acrylic and the top of both of the massive hard drives to show how it all works.

Hitachi also had their versions of a Blu-Ray DVD recorder. Personally, I like this version a lot better then Sony's UFO style Blu-Ray. It is about the size of Toshiba's HD DVD player, but the Blu-Ray logo that glows on the top just looks sweet.

Hitachi also had a computer based Blu-Ray optical drive. The question pops into my head though if Windows is going to support this natively or some proprietary driver is going to be need sense Microsoft is announced they are in the HD DVD camp. Maybe this is the drive that Apple is going to use in their Powermacs.
