VIA launches new motherboard chipset featuring integrated HD processing
The high definition motherboard club is getting more and more crowded these days, with VIA the latest to add their product to the mix. Their K8M890 chipset has an integrated S3 graphics DeltaChrome IGP that will output resolutions of up to 1920x1080 to your HDTV. This seems to be an upgraded version of the S3 Unichrome processor that bit-tech found so disappointing in their time with it.
If the S3 processor isn't up to your liking, you can always throw in another graphics card via the PCI Express slot, and it also ups the maximum bus speed to 1 GHz. Your ears will be as well treated as your eyes, thanks to the included 8 channel audio. No word on outputs, so we'll have to wait to see the actual boards, but anything not featuring at least a DVI connector w/ HDCP would make the children cry, and nobody wants that.
