Xbox 360 being auctioned for Katrina relief
Here's an auction item that could either be a total deal or a total rip-off (well, not a total rip-off, as all
proceeds go to Katrina relief). Among 800 other products, trips, and services that were donated to the Starwood Hotels
katrina relief online auction is a brand new Xbox
360 console; but even though the copy claims you can "get it before anyone else," no delivery date for this hot
number is actually given. Bidding ends on October 27th and is currently at $460, which is a steal if it arrives on
October 28th, but if it shows up on March 13th, 2006, well, then, at least that 100%+ markup went to a good
cause.
[Thanks, Matt]

LA DEE DAH
If you all want to chip in and buy it for me, I'll post a detailed review for you. That way everyone gets something out of the deal. Just a suggestion....
Say you get it early. What are you going to play on it?
Good Game #3, Thanks for playing.
LOL good thinking.
Well supposedly stores willl have games for sale early so thats soemthing. Also you can use the media features now, and whatever games come on the hard drive (if its the deluxe edition)
BS.
The bastards are not gonna use that to help anyone. They'll prolly pocket the cash.
"HEY EVERYONE! WE GOT $1K FROM THAT XBOX 360 AUCTION! DINNER IS ON ME!"
All this talk about consoles is bringing the fanboys out, and I'm not sure I like it.
Maybe I missed something, I appologize, but is there anything significant about March 13th? (other than the day before Pi Day's Eve?) haha.
If you want to give money to charity, then just do that.
Don't waste your time on shaddy auctions..
seriously people, its common sense (I wish it were, anyhow)
It's my birthday actually... haha. But I don't think that warrants an Engadget mention.
I've got a great idea. Why not get people to donate money so you can bid on it, then once you win, get your friend to film you smashing it right in front of all the charity fanboys, those morons won't know what hit them, it'll be like, like so funny.
"Here’s an auction item that could either be a total deal or a total rip-off (well, not a total rip-off, as all proceeds go to Katrina relief)"
Errr, then why say a total rip-off in the first place?
Sadly, there are only a few who would give up their hard earned cash, just to help some one.
The majority of people need to know that THEY are getting something out of giving their money away. Which is why this is a good idea, get more $ to those who are currently living in grungy hotels down there. I donated (student on minimum wage) 75$ too my schools charity fund for Katrina survivors. Who cares if its a rip off to the guy/girl that gets the top bid.
Becasue microsoft isnt apple? right?
as a victim of Katrina with no insurance who lost my Xbox, I think MS should just donate a 360 to me rather than letting people sell them at outrageous markups. no victims will ever see a cent of the money that comes from this auction.
Looks good ga
please to send me 11 ga
will be needing credit card ga
Probably some really rich kid will buy it. So I think this is OK!
Saying that something is on sale for charity is a sure fire way for you to get more than the item is worth.

um... no games come with it, duh. Whats the point of having a shiny new car when you are 14 yrs old. You still must wait till your 15 untill you can have a driver's permit, at least in my neck of the woods.
15.5 in LA (CA) - I bought my car at 15.4 though, only because of the awesome deal, but that's besides the point, haha
The new law in california is if anyone was born after 1990 then they can't drive til they are 18. Good stuff, keep the brats off the streets.
Hey let's run up the auction price so that those poor people can get some relief.
