Siemens head says CDMA is on its way out in US

There are obviously some very discrete motives for Siemens executive Christoph Catselitz, head of Siemens AG's mobile networks business (which is not the branch now owned by BenQ, mind you), to go on record as saying that "[he] would not bet on North America continuing with CDMA," and that "CDMA is losing market share globally." Maybe so, but as a top GSM cellular infrastructure company, there are certain, um, advantages to publicly playing down CDMA as a wireless technology. We're not saying he's wrong, but we know Verizon and Sprint, and unless Catselitz is talking about the distant future, we've got a feeling CDMA isn't going anywhere in the US.
