CyberLink launches PowerCinema Linux
CyberLink, perhaps best known for their
PowerDVD software, announced yet another software solution for transforming that drab beige-box into a whizbang media
PC. Their PowerCinema media suite's been around a while, sure, but if you're down with Linux and aren't feeling MythTV or Freevo for whatever reason, now you can get PowerCinema Linux for
recording off analog or digital tuners and most everything else you wanted to do with a media PC*.*But were afraid to bother with.

It appears that it is not available for download, but only available for OEM customers :(
Or please tell me I missed something.

having used PowerCinema on Windows, I must say to Linux users, DO NOT USE THIS CRAPPY SOFTWARE. It's slow. It's bulky. It's buggy.

I'm somewhat annoyed and saddened that everyone making HTPC software feels compelled to copy the MCE interface. Sure, the MCE interface is fantastic and it's my HTPC software of choice because, well, it's the most tightly integrated solution there is yet. BUT, I'm convinced there's got to be a better solution for navigating my media than what Microsoft has come up with. Where's the innovation?

Erm... my laptop that I bought a year and a half ago came with PowerCinema Linux installed on the fourth partition of the hard drive. When I had to reformat, I tried to find PowerCinema on the Internet and I found out it wasn't officially out yet, except for people who purchased these laptops with "Instant-On Media Players".
It's strange to hear that something I had, and never really used, two years ago, is finally out to the public now.

Don't waist your time. Powercinema came with my ATI TV Wonder Elite. Great card, junk software. When in live TV mode, when you come to 1 hr it starts recording over and you have no ability to rewind past that point. I have had situations were I missed something moments after it started over and couldn't rewind a few seconds! The only thing worse about it is the helps and docs.

I bought my computer 4 months ago, powercinema is not reading movies, but it reads games and music cd's. I'm in Sudan and not nearby any dealer or retailor, how do I fix this problem?
