If you've been look for a way to charge your cellphone while getting some minor wrist exercises done
at the same time (don't try and deny it), you might want to check out "Manual Power," the gyroscope
flashlight charger. You pull the starter cord to get the rotor moving, and then make odd wiggling moves to bulk up your
forearm and power a built-in LED flashlight or charge your phone via an adaptor. Buy a few, shut off the lights, and
invite your friends over -- you've got a regular dance party.

don't mock the gyro's, not only are they alot of fun, but they make a really cool sound when there warming up. (kinda sounds like an engine thats about to rev too high and explode)

Cool stuff :) But how long you have to dance to completely charge your phone?

It's a powerball!
What we really need is a stillsuit, dunestyle, to power all out devices.

These things used to be known as Dynabees and I first saw them in 1979. Back then they didn't come with the starting cord so I learned to start them like that. To this day I haven't me a single person who can start the things without the cord. A useless skill, I know, but it always enrages the other guy and it makes me feel superior.

WTF?
Instead of carrying that gigantic piece of crap around, how about you carry around an extra battery?

"Gyrobics" is the next exercise craze for all sports (and there are many) that require wrist strength.
patrick @ Feb 24th 2006 6:36AM
If you put one of these gyros on a spring that is stiff enough to not bend back on itself but springy enough to let the gyro follow its own crazy path, and attach it to the top of your head it will keep going continiually while you are walking. Isn't it just a matter of sensitivity -- making the gyro so that it can store the ambient energy of your body moving relative to the environment? Wouldn't a really sensitive gyro accumulate ambient energy without you having to shake like the guy in the video?

I start my powerball by running it along the ground. Short-pile carpet works best. Hard tops are also useful but can scratch the underside of your powerball.
Much easier and more convenient than using the cord.
