Mitsubishi's Diamondcrysta 17 and 19-inch monitors
Mitsubishi's
got some new heads in Japan today. More or less run of the mill SXGA (1280 x 1024) heads, but the four Diamondcrysta
17-inch (RDT1713S, RDT1713V) and 19-inchers (RDT197S, RDT197V) do have an impressive pixel response as fast as 2ms, 300
and 400cd/m2 brightness (depending on the model), 1000:1 contrast ratio, and DVI. No stated price or intention to
export, but when it comes to monitors like these, you've already got plenty of options on the market.

The 17 and 19 inch monitors are 5:4 aspect ratio.
Yeah, I never did learn why most 17" and 19" panels are that strange ratio, yet 15" (1024x768) and 21" (1600x1200) are 4:3.
The specs look good on paper. I wonder if it is a TN 6-bit panel or something like an LG-Philips AS-IPS 8-bit panel. 16.2 million colors = suck.
Mmmm... reflecty! That's what I like in an LCD. Who wants to see things on the screen when you can see yourself and things behind you?
I know I can't stand those reflective screens. All of Acer's laptops have switched to those and I am wondering wheather I should get a normal monitor now while I still can. Personaly they piss me off, it's hard to focus when your looking at a display behind a mirror!
I was actually in the market for buying a screen over the past little while and the Mitsubishi Diamon Crystas were on my list to concider. They're very very high quality, and look like a decent build. Eventually I went with the sharp 32" IT-32X2, which is a media center screen - but back to the point, in the flesh, very nice.

I have exactly the same reaction. Consumers demand anti-glare for LCDs. Glares stress eyes, induce tears. Someone in the Mitsubishi advertising department screws up here. Memo to management: always keep a leash on your graphic designers. :)
