Dell 2407WFP makes another appearance ... in Poland
Dell's globetrotting 2407WFP display has shown up on another international Dell site, this time in Poland. (We first caught the peripatetic peripheral on Dell's Japan site, and the specs -- but no pricing or ordering info -- later showed up in the US.) According to the site, the 24-inch, 1920 x1200 display will go for 4,634 zloties, or about $1,535, including VAT. That's roughly in line with Japan's ¥157,500 (or about $1,400), though what we really want to see is a US price, already. And one that's lower than $1,400, of course.

The wait game for this 2407 is beginning to dampen my excitement for it. Get your act together Dell.

It's also out in the U.K.

so i have had a couple of opportunities (having cash in hand) to buy a 2405, and after doing my taxes this year I was all set to buy, then I heard about the 2407 and figured I would wait. no my birthday is june 4th and my wife has money set aside to help me buy it. if it doesnt become availible by my birthday i will simply lose it. by the way the current price for a 2407wfp in japan is 95800 yen which is $859 US

It's also on the Swedish site, at 12 098,75 in the local currency, which translates to $1,661, 890, ?1,298 or 183,429. But that's with the Swedish taxes, so don't get too scared, you non-swedes.

Supposedly some people are having some problems with them:

We have some 2405fpws at work and they are BEAUTIFUL.

It's on the Norwegian site too, at 10275 NOK, which is $1690.
But I'm guessing Dell would try to price this in the US the way Sony will be pricing the PS3, namely by doing a straight 1:1 conversion from the price in euros, to offset the nosedive the US dollar has taken on the global currency markets lately. If my guess is right, it would put the US price at somewhere around $1300.

And the New Zealand site for NZ$1,699 (US$1,068) and I'm pretty sure I got a Dell catalogue in the mail yesterday which showed discounted to NZ$1,379 (US$867)

I was waiting for the 2407WFP as well, but after I saw some of the initial reports about it from Japan, I changed my mind and picked up a 2405FPW during one of Dell's sales for a very good price.
Sounds like the 2407WFP has serious color banding issues, similar to issues found on the 2007WFP. Also there are reports that text looks blurry, and 1080P input is not supported (so who cares if it has HDCP or not?) -- this is all according to a translated Japanese review, so who knows. But I wasn't willing to wait so I could risk it. 2405FPW is a solid proven choice, and I have no regrets. I'd get it while you still can...

It has been out in Australia for the past 2 weeks. I got mine a week ago and it had the same probs mentioned above - colour banding on dvi and text that looks like its got a shadow. I'm sending it back but plan to buy a new one as soon as those probs are fixed because its an awesome monitor.
Glenn @ May 10th 2006 9:35PM
Dell Australia website lists this at $AU1599.40 ($US1230) which is valid until today. Ther latest hard copy brochure lists it at $AU1274 delivered ($US980).

(commenting on my own comment!)
Considering computer products and accesories are always more expensive in Oz (sometimes ridiculously so) the US price should be much lower than the $US980 price I mentioned.

I bought the 2407wfp in Japan (my current place of residence). Master_of_fm back in the third comment had the current price right. I bought it a few weeks back right before the Dell Special price was set to disappear. I chuckled to myself after the day passed because, in true Dell fashion, a brand new Display coupon appeared on the site the very next day, keeping the price to an incredible $865 or so.
So far I haven't come across any color banding issues and my text (through my Mac Mini running the monitor at native resolution) is crystal clear. I don't have a 1080p source (maybe PS3 in November?!) so I can't speak to that.
My experience with the monitor so far has been nothing but top notch. I haven't put it through any stress testing or anything but for a 24" widescreen LCD obtained for ~$900 (after tax and shipping) that has performed beautifully in day to day tasks (I also run my PS2 and Gamecube through the display), I have absolutely zero complaints.
Memory card functionality and powered USB ports, too? Awesome.

It is also on sale on singapore's website for about $950 US Dollars.

I take back my comment (two back). Rescind! I went back and looked at the monitor again and, when I looked for it, I noticed lots of banding. That's really the only issue.
I'm going to try to return it (been a bit over the normal return date but...) because now that I've seen it it's really annoying. If I have to keep it, though, then it's still okay because otherwise it's awesome... and for the price?
