Novogo S series GPS units appear
Looks like Novogo had some new GPS units to show off at Computex, though they certainly didn't seem to want to make a big stink about the. The SiRFstarIII-enabled S series units will apparently carry a 3.5-inch QVGA touchscreen, 64MB RAM, SD slot, mini USB connector, and a removable battery -- specs that that sound increasingly smartphone-like, these days. No word as to when these will hit the streets or for how much, but we imagine they'll be out soon and somewhat reasonably priced at that.

Just use a mapsco. You say "reasonably priced" ??? Anything above 40 bucks so the fed can monitor my position at anytime and then cutoff my GPS signal whenever they feel like it does not sound like a "reasonable" deal to me. Save your money and buy a paper map. The feds can't monitor paper...yet.

I'm not worried about carrying a GPS, it's that squirrel under NSA contract that concerns me the most.

Wow... Have a cellphone? Guess what?! E-911 Compatibility is required now. Thats GPS For those that don't know it, and E-911 doesn't only activate when you call 911, you think that GPS is turned off....hehehe... They already know where you are, when you are ;-) they're already after you!

Looks like the unit is running a modified version of the Navigon software.

I thought tracing via mobile phones was due to traingulation of towers, not GPS. (and supposedly anonymous too... )

So, I'm in the market for a new GPS. Recommendations? I don't think I've ever even seen this brand at Best Buy. I keep seeing Garmin and Magellan, and I like Garmin's blog -- www.garmin.blogs.com -- so I'm leaning towards them.
