Fat lady will sing for DS; Opera hits Japan July 24

As if there weren't enough reasons to own a DS or DS Lite, an official announcement today by Opera Software proclaims that the anticipated DS add-on will see its first light of day with a Japanese release on July 24. The browser will be sold exclusively online at the price of 3,800 yen (about $33 U.S.) and come with an additional memory expansion pack. No date for a U.S. or European launch has been set, but with a Japan release just a month away, surely this thing will come stateside well before the Holiday shopping season. Opera assures us that more details will be known once the browser drops in July. Most of what we know is from early E3 impressions where it featured hand writing recognition for writing things like Web addresses -- something that will most definitely be a hell of a lot easier than the agonizing PSP input method. If you don't own a DS already, will this push you over the edge?
