HD DVD and Blu-ray released on August 8th 2006
Once again this week HD DVD increases their lead against Blu-ray as Paramount and Universal release six new titles and at the same time Blu-ray has one of their first weeks without any new titles. At this point they might be taking turns releasing titles as currently HD DVD doesn't have any scheduled for next week, but that has never stopped the studios from releasing them unannounced.
There are a few good movies this week, including a day and date release of Aeon Flux and the classic Nation Lampoon's Animal House. Even with these titles the releases so far have been less than exciting for both formats and we hope that all the studios turn it up a notch in time for the holiday season.
This brings the total to HD DVD 54 vs Blu-ray 24.
