Use your PSP as a PC joystick
While this may not be quite as extravagant as remote-controlling your Honda without even being in the vehicle, using your PSP as a PC joystick is both useful and overtly geeky in its own right. While the PSP has definitely shown its ability to be more than just a gaming system (and media player, UMD viewer, digital audio player, etc.), David Rudie has devised a method to turn your PSP into a "virtual joystick" for your computer. Working with PPJoy, a program used to create a virtual controller within a Windows environment, he created a program that connects a device via WiFi to a server running on your PC. When you fire up the app on your Sony handheld, the program establishes a network connection with the server using an infrastructure mode, and once an IP address has been obtained and the two machines shake virtual hands, your only taks left is to figure how to make good use of your newly discovered controller. Currently, the mod only works with firmware versions v1.00 and v1.50, but if you're not the downgrader type you can certainly press your luck with newer versions. (OS X drivers are on the the to-do list, but we wouldn't hold our breath.) If hacking your Nintendo controller to work on your PC just didn't provide enough buttons for those elaborate combos, or you just prefer the modern flavor over the retro style, this will give you one more excuse to use the PSP for something other than what it was designed for, which is definitely where it seems to excel.

You can do this already on the Nintendo DS with homebrew. The DS allows you to re-map any of the DS buttons to send key commands to the PC and will use the touch-screen as a mouse, like the trackpad on your laptop.
The DS software will, if you so choose, turn off the screen light. This allows you to get a crazy-long battery life out of the unit. I use mine to remote control my Media Center. Since it acts like a mouse, it becomes a great little WiFi remote.
Has anyone used this yet, and can they comment on the lag by using wifi? This might be a nice stop gap to use playing flatout 2...

I love all of the things my PSP can do. I just got it yesterday. My iPod is for sale.
It will be an expensive little "Joystick". And nah, no thanks, I still like my Sidewinder. :P
Unlike a joystick, you'd cry bucketloads when this drops onto the floor. Cool hack, but I'd rather use my PSP as wireless control for a PS3 (i'm sure SONY will hook up the PSP with PS3 somehow!)
Am seriously more interested in the Wii though :P
use PSP as a PS2 joystick with this?

Guys, this sounds great and should be pretty usefull for those who would like to play the PC games they have on their laptops using the PSP as the controller. Im however looking for something similar but not quite the same. What I need is to use the laptop widescreen to play the games I have on the PSP using the PSP as a controller. Imagine your traveling and you have your laptop with you and the PSP. As your allready addicted to the games, wouldnt you like to be able to play what you were playing on the PSP on a bigger screen? I would. And a solution that makes this possible is what im looking for.
I purchased the PSP to be able to continue playing my PS2 games while on the move. I sync the save files (progress) of what I played on my PS2 with the PSP and can continue playing with the same game progress and viceversa. I have to buy the game on both consoles to do this though, which I did for GTA as its pretty addictive. This is a minor issue for hardcore gamers as you get what you need right? If any of you know anything on or off the market that makes this possible, please drop me a line or reply in this forum. Im actually in a hotelroom now and my head spins from playing on the small display, ths is probably cause im not used to playing on a handheld with built-in display.
Please let me know, Game on gameheads.
