Guitar Hero II gets Guns N' Roses, Euro release date

Guitar Hero is apparently melting the faces off Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival attendees with a couple new announcements and the first publicly playable demo of Guitar Hero II in Europe. First, a confirmed November release date means our European allies (even you Monaco) won't have to wait long ("shortly after" the Nov. 7th North American release) to get their fret-calloused fingers on Guitar Hero II. Of course, the original guitar peripheral will work with the sequel but they've also gone ahead and "confirmed that the original guitars will be compatible with the PlayStation 3." Wha? How? We've called our bookies and our money's on black magic (hrm, "Black Magic Woman" would be a good track to add). There'll still be new wireless guitars though, right?

We only know a handful of the 55 tracks confirmed to appear, including the oft-requested, and recently unveiled (on Gamespot's homepage video), Guns N' Roses track! We don't know about you guys, but with "Sweet Child O' Mine" on the lineup, we're pretty sure we're going to break our knees rocking out. The setlist thus far:

  • Stone Temple Pilots' "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart"

  • Anthrax's "Madhouse"

  • Mötley Crüe's "Shout at the Devil"

  • Reverend Horton Heat's "Psychobilly Freakout"

  • KISS' "Strutter"

  • Black Sabbath's "War Pigs"

  • Butthole Surfers' "Who Was in My Room Last Night?"

  • The Kink's "You Really Got Me" as performed by Van Halen

  • Rush's "YYZ"

  • Primus' "John the Fisherman"

  • Drist "Arterial Black"

  • Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of" (maybe)

  • and ... Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine"

Keep rocking:
