With the obsessive push to make things
smaller and
smaller, Kingston is cramming 1GB of storage in its latest microSD card. Trailing behind SanDisk -- which has already released its own ultra-spacious microSD cards in
1GB and
2GB flavors --
Kingston is just now making the jump to a gig. Just in case you haven't forked out for that svelte
Chocolate phone yet, the minuscule card comes bundled with a full sized SD adapter for use in "older" digicams and media readers. If you've been avoiding the SanDisk offerings (and their steep pricetags), you'll probably be delighted to find that Kingston's 1GB version is not only available now, but will only set you back $55.
I have one of these cards already (mymemory.co.uk £17.99!!) Works great through the adapter but doesn't work in my Samsung D900. Have just bought a Sandisk equivalent and it works fine. In the end was worth paying the extra for the fact that it actually works.
Quite a price...
Street prices for these are pretty darn low. SanDisk 1GB MicroSD cards are going for around $45 at newegg.com, and Kingston 1GB MicroSD cards are going for $36.
Bought that Sandisk 1GB card for my VX8300 phone. It was like $40 on eBay. I'm amazed at how small these things are, and how cheap they've become.
This news is only relevant if you have a boycott on Sandisk. I got my 1gb micro in June for just under $40 on Amazon.
I also snagged a 1 gb SanDisk microSD card for my LG VX8300 from Best Buy last month for $40. I've since seen them for as low as $35 at CompUSA and Office Depot. Now only if the phone had a better camera, I could better justify the purchase.
Oooooo 1GB microSD! No thanks, I'll stick with my 2GB Sandisk microSD.
BTW, isn't the 2 gb SanDisk microSD only available for $99 through Verizon Wireless stores?
wow ive had mid for like 3 weeks now. I ordered it online for 35.
I got a 2gb on ebay last week for $90, this post is poop

I got a 1gb kingston last week for $35 at Fry's.. this might have been news last week.
this is ridiculously old. ive seen 1 gb microSd for 29.99 after $10 rebate on websites like techbargains.com (if you don't know, its a site that basically hunts for bargains in technology)
we can expect 4 gb models in the very near future id imagine too.
I looked into the issue with SanDisk / Kingston cards not working in certain mobile phones, I think you got a fualty one, just bad luck! I've always used www.mymemory.co.uk as their prices are always the cheapest I can find (even better than ebay), the only problem is they dont ship to the US, just the UK... maybe they will in the future..
For those with non working 1gb micro sds in D900, try this:
-reformat the micro sd to FAT32 (mine was originally FAT)
I did this to a 1gb kingston that didn't work in my D900, works fine now. This will most likely fix the toshibas as well i'm guessing.
