Harmon Kardon to release "Guide + Play," its first GPS device
Every time we turn around, there's yet another company that previously had nothing to do with GPS, ready to get in the game. Now Harmon Kardon will be releasing its first GPS gadget, called the "Guide + Play" in the US this coming January. We don't know much about it yet other than that it can play MPEG-4 and WMV files, support SD cards up to 4GB, and will purportedly stay juiced for up to five hours. Oh, and it'll only set you back around $500.[Via Navigadget]

I just recieved mine from Dell...Oh boy, is this nice! Easy install, easy to navigate through, lightweight, top-of-the-line 3d imaging, great sound quality(for a 1" speaker), easy to connect to my head unit(clarion) so, i don't have to carry cd's around(2G mem. card). I've previously owned a $400 magellan gps-nice, but I've had this or only 2 days, and realize now, what I've been missing.
Music, Video and GPS in one. And maybe later they can add FM and bluetooth. I'm sure they're on the designer's table now. Nice gadget
Spell check on, please.
surely you mean "Harm_a_n Kardon". Looks cool, and the antenna is tiny.
I put a grin mark at the end of my previous comment, but it was somehow removed by the system...I need a preview feature...
'nothing to do with GPS'.....hmmm??
Harman/Becker which is the automotive division of Harmann International has a whole lot to do wih GPS.

User interface looks nice and simple. I wonder if it has a traffic information receiver like the Alpine Blackbird ($499) or Garmin Nuvi 660 ($899)? I also wonder if you can watch movies will driving...oh wait, that's illegal!
I think my friend has a Harman Becker nav system in his BMW, also known as the iDrive...uh oh, if that's any indication of how this user interface works, I'm gonna stay away.
Here is our FirstLook at the Guide+Play...
Solid feel to the unit. Simple to use UI. Nice bright screen.
