Verizon's LG VX8600 Chocolate flip launched
After a brief visit to their "testman" staging site this morning, Verizon went ahead and kicked out the LG VX8600 Chocolate flip without further ado. Still sportin' the specs leaked back in September, the VX8600 will cost you $129.99 on a two year contract after the on-line discount -- the rumored $249.99 full-retail / $229.99 one-year options don't appear on the site, yet. That buys you into a fashionable, V Cast musicphone with microSD expansion, A2DP stereo audio over Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel shooter, and what's this... an enabled speakerphone -- gasp.

Where Do You Get It From?
In England?
sweet!
Couldn't help myself..hehe
My early Christmas gift for myself.
Is this really worth the money?
It's a deal for me because of ne2 (new every 2).
in Venezuela yesterday LG Mobile launch MG810 for GSM operator called Digitel. available in two weeks
That's almost identical to my Vodafone 804SS I have here in Japan, except I paid less — possibly a revised model from the looks of it. It's an awesome phone, although text-messaging in English sucks like on all phones I've tried (but Japanese is easy).
The V804SS is a Samsung phone (maybe you already knew) and I think it's called the SYNC(?) in the States. Because it has a non-Japanese equivalent you can flash a non-Japanese firmware to the phone that allows T9 for easier texting in English.
Well, this looks hot. Of all of the released specs that I've seen, the only one I really want is the Bluetooth 2.0. I have the VX8500 Chocolate Slider, and the speakerphone with the RELEASED firmware update is just fine, as well as the other things. The phone is generally more responsive and nice. If I was getting a phone now, I'd get this one, but I'm stuck for a year. Yay for 1 year corporate contracts.
"Bluetooth Capable (v1.1) –supports headset, hands-free, advanced audio distribution, serial port, dial-up networking, file transfer, audio/video remote control, object push profiles for vCard"
That's interesting. File transfer? Dial-up networking? It looks surprisingly uncrippled, especially if the aforementioned file transfer isn't restricted. Verizon couldn't be, you know, getting a clue, could they?
And I'm surprised the price doesn't match the KRZR's. Motorola's going to be getting their ass handed to them on a plate here. Size-wise, the VX8600 is actually slightly thinner and shorter, where the KRZR is slightly slimmer horizontally. The VX8600 is a match for the KRZR in every respect and bests it in most. The flash interface alone would make the decision for me.
why no broadband access?
I just got some hands-on time with the X8600 and I must say I am very impressed, in fact I am sold. I am buying one of these in a month when my contract comes around.
It feels very solid in your hand, much like the Krzr does. When I say solid I mean that it feels sturdy like it won't break (like the V3M). The UI is very nice and responsive, and the music features looks great.
The only bad things? The exterior display is going to be a smudge-whore. I played with the phone for maybe 15 minutes, including using the exterior music buttons, and the exterior front was all smudged up when I left. Oh well, virtually every phone these days had that issue.
So, December 12th I will be buying one these, and I can't wait!
Bought mine this afternoon on my lunch break.... Awesome phone, been showing it to people all day. But honestly, anything that gets away from Verizon's red bar UI is a winner in my book.
it doesn't have the ui? if it does not I will be buying this phone tomorrow. :-)
As far as I know, it has the LG Flash UI that showed up on the VX8300 and VX8500 (Chocolate). IIRC, you can choose between the VZW UI and a few variants of the Flash one. I could be mistaken, though.
I am pretty sure it's not the same thing as the Chocolate slider ...it's similar, but (don't quote me) I think it's slightly modified.
I have until December 9 until I get my $100 credit :(
I went last night because previously they had told me November 14...but someone made a mistake gah. Got to tinker with it at the store though. I love it.
Same here, I have until December 12th :( The wait is killing me, my old phone is on it's way out too...
If you buy it online, you get a $50 discount. And if you are eligible for your new-every-2 - like me :) - then you get a $100 discount. All in all, I got this phone for $30. Nice, huh?
My wife and I just got Verizon phones on Saturday, she got the white Chocolate and I got LG VX8300. I think I'm going to be replacing both this weekend if this model is really superior.
What is the LG Flash UI being talked about?
Is there any place to get deals on the microsd and usb cables?
Well as a bit of a follow up, I ended up buying the phone and I love it. My only 2 knocks on the phone: it attracts smudges (no surprise there), and the speakerphone is a little bit on the quiet side, but neither of these are deal breakers. Overall I am very happy with the phone, and I have already gotten several "Wow, what phone is that?" questions from people... :)
What is Flash User Interface?
Can you listen to music with a Bluetooth Headset?

Going to be buying this phone tomorrow :) I messed around with it in the store and I compared it to the Krzr, both are solid phones but I'm gonna go with the chocolate because it just feels firm and rugged so it's going to be one heck of an upgrade from my old Nokia 2128i lol
ok well i got mine for xmas but i found it under my bed.. (Great hiding place eh? lol) Well im tryin 2 charge it so i can look @ it n all tht jazz.. but i cant like open the jack thingy for where the charger is suppose 2 goo. any tips? cuz i shuld kno obv lol plzpzlplz help moi!
the jack is on the left had side of the phone. there is a slot where you put your nail in and just pop it open...it just comes out and swings around clockwise or counterclockwise. Hope that helps
