Best Black Friday bargains?
Everybody watching out for good tech deals? Awesome. We'll be collecting them all week for a huge Black Friday roundup (so what if this year we're throwing Adbusters' Buy Nothing Day into the wind?), so let's get this godawful celebration of crass consumer iniquity ON, y'hear?Sincerely,
Your pals at Engadget
P.S. -Yeah, we already know about the $100 Compaq laptop and the $1000 42-inch Vizio plasma.

Dell just blasted out a black friday sneak peek to corporate customers.
35% off poweredge servers, precisions, optiplex, and some latitudes.
Optiplex 360 for $449. 1TB internal barracuda 7200.11 SATA 3Gb/s for $129.
Yawn
This thread http://www.flexdeals.net/deals/forums/black-friday/6099-black-friday-2006-official-thread.html
has a bunch of black friday ads scanned in.
I'm so staying home Friday. I would rather pay full price for something than deal with these mad cows running around. I'll be celebrating National Buy Nothing Day by hanging out with family and friends.

I sure i saw in an add from Best Buy with the 42 inch 1080p Westinghouse Ltv42 whatever for $999!!!! Now thats a steal!!!!
I have a 30inch westinghouse LCD that i bout 18 months ago for 1199 and it has been nothing short of amazing.
Hey G Money, you're right. I saw the same ad. It's in a black friday scan floating around. It was on www.bfads.net but Best Buy made them take it down. That's a GREAT deal for that TV if you can get it. Search for it, I'm sure you can still find it. I have it, I would email it to you but I don't think it would be smart to post it for all to see.
Sorry G-Money, the 42" Westinghouse on sale on Friday ISN'T the 1080p monitor, it's the W4207 720p monitor:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8114541&ref=39&loc=01&st=westinghouse+42%22&type=product&id=1158318442758
But the 32" HD Built-in W3212 for $479 early bird IS a steal....if you can stomach the crowds.

bunch of adds
You guys completely missed the Olevia 42" LCD at buy.com for $980 w/ free shipping... out of stock now...
the westinghouse is an awesome deal for 1080p... but the best buy website says 720?
plus i bet there's only like 5 per store. can you imagine lining up at 4am for these with a stomach still full of turkey and about 3 hours sleep?
I try to do all my xmas shopping online. Most of the time there is no tax and I save gas money. :)
BestBuy is too difficult to buy from on Black Friday, especially since they have such limited quantity.
I noticed a good sale on a namebrand 42" Plasmas at CircuitCity, an LG and a Panasonic currently selling for $1299 but with a 10% coupon that can be found online brings it down to $1170.
I think this is an awesome price for namebrand plasmas, also take into account that the LG comes with 2 years warranty! I planning to visit CircuitCity later today to see these in action.
Well Matt B, what you save on taxes, you end up paying on shipping--unless you're an Overstock.com guy, like me. I'll shop online too.
Hi Ryan.
@Westinghouse 1080p comments above: check the Best Buy add again, that is the "little brother" 720p set not the 42" 1080p set from what I saw. For those that don't care about 720/1080 it is still a good panel.
Here are my favorite Best Buy deals as seen in the ad (deals that are cheaper than what can be found online):
- Westinghouse LCM-22w2 22" DVI LCD for 200 bucks
- Toshiba XGA DLP projector for 400 bucks
- Bluetooth headset (I think it was motorola) for 15
According the Westinghouse website, the only 42" LCD they make is the 1080p model. Unless there is some weird BB only model.
I have to say that my favorite deal is a $2.99 (early bird) 1GB SD Card at Circuit City. Hopefully I can pick up five or six and complete all of my holiday shopping. =)
My second favorite site on the web:
www.techbargains.com
They have a Wii finder and a PS3 Finder
They led me to http://blackfridayhome.com/ which has ad scans and secret deals as well.
Walmart is selling a panasonic 42" pdp for 1200, and they even acknowledge that Christmas exists.
CompUSA is doing $100 360 cores, with a $29.99 cell phone offer. http://www.flexdeals.net/blackfriday2006/compusa.pdf
josh,
you can never keep up with technology. The minute you put it in your cart, there is something better on the shelf. Just enjoy the tv and be happy with what you have. I bought my 30 inch westinghouse from bestbuy in April of 05 for 1099 with a free samsung home theatre. Now you can find 42" for 1k or less. :shrugs shoulders:
And i do believe that the Best Buy Westinghouse TV WAS THE 1080P model. Best Buy is out there policing their leaked circulars, so I only saw it up there quickly. Hell for 1499 that Tv is steal, for 999 its highway robbery. Too bad Im not in the market for a TV.
www.bfads.com
Circuit City has a 1GB flash drive for $4 and a 2GB for $13.

Why did I have to break down and buy LCD HDTVs last year, I could have bout three larger TVs for the two I already bought. Anyone want a slightly used 27" Westinghouse, huh huh?
Panasonic 42" Plasma at Best Buy for $999... it was just posted on Bestbuy.com. Actually Best Buy has lots of good deals posted, 2 GB SD card for under 30 dollars (no mail-in rebate required), over $100 off the Canon Rebel Xti kit, and they got a few other good camera/camcorder deals as well. Ads vary by location though, here in the Midwest they appear to be doing a gift card promo, where if you spend 400 dollars, you get a 60 dollar gift card. Not bad for someone thinking of purchasing something pricey, and need a couple accessories to go along with it.
The bbuy deal for $999 is on the Westinghouse, not the panny. Best deal on the 42" px60u as previously mentioned is at ccity.
As follow up, does anyone know where the 10% off coupon for tvs at ccity can be found.
$25 for a 25 pack of Memorex 2.4x DVD+R DL discs @ CompUSA. They are normally $59.99 but are on sale now through Thursday for $29.99 and on Black Friday they have an extra $5 MIR.
Maybe it's me, but doesn't it seem like all of these "deals" on TVs are just scams to liquidate all of their 720p inventory?
The model numbers are almost always very similar VP42 vs. P42, etc. They list a bunch of unimportant technical specs and bury the important stuff.
To me, they're just jerking consumers around, trying to offload the marginal stuff and what looks like a good deal, but you can bet the companies involved are still making money. Makes me wonder where else they're cutting corners on the products being offered.
BUY NOTHING DAY! I know its hard folks, but RESIST! RESIST! me, i hate shopping in general so I'll be outside, in the woods, far far far away from anything resembling a box store.
BE STRONG!
why? Am I not suppose to buy gas or breathe for a day when someone tells me too?
Well I suppose if you pay for your air, it might be wise to continuing doing so. Thankfully where I live air is still free. As yes, not buying gas would fall under buy nothing day. I am not telling you to buy nothing, I am simply asking that folks take a second to consider the greed that surrounds a traditional black friday, and maybe a few folks will choose to opt out of the feeding frenzy. Its an interesting socio-econonic expirement, watching how people react when they think they are getting a bargin, or when the product is a 'must have' just look at the lines that surround a BestBuy or a Circuit City for the PS3. It is also interesting to consider the cash that leaves a local economy when some of these megachains move into an area. Change has to start somewhere, and not buying into the hype is as good as place as any for me to start.
$40 Game Boy Micro at Wal-Mart. I bought one at Circuit City earlier this week, and I'll price match it after the ad comes out.
I dont speak for circuit city, but having worked their, I think you should know that *usually* they will not match limited time/limited quantity sales, such as those on Black Friday.
good luck with your endeavor, though.
I think Best Buy is selling a 19" Samsung monitor for $130.
You can view the entire Best Buy ad at http://bfads.net/. They have a Toshiba 50" plasma for only $1700! It's a $1300 instant savings, but it is also an early bird special.
Both this and the 42" Westinghouse are 720p.
I think these are great deals for 42" displays.
On a 42" display, 720p is more than enough realistically. You'd get more for your money buying a higher quality (contrast and response time) 720p display than upping for being able to handle 1080p resolution (with the same contrast and response time).
Of course the story changes for 50+" displays.
Still, if you buy a 42" 720p (that can scale 1080i), I think you're good to go for a very long time.
ps: they'll never broadcast in 1080p b/c it's just entirely too much bandwidth. The only place you'll be getting that for a VERY long time is on HDDVD and BRD. (downloads out beyond that)
Micro Center...
Syntax Olevia 32" 532H LCD HDTV ($150 Rebate) - $369.99
Syntax Olevia 37" 337H LCD HD-Ready ($150 Rebate) - $499.99
Syntax Olevia 42" 542I LCD HDTV ($200 Rebate) - $799.99
That 10% coupon on the internet from CC says it can't be reproduced. Has anyone had any trouble printing this coupon and using it?
I've used one of the three available coupons I was able to find last week without any problem. I plan to use the 10% TV coupon either today or tomorrow. If you're not sure you can always ask, worse they can say is no.

www.bf-06.com has leaked a ton of ads this year
I haven't seen anything yet that makes me want to brave the heard of loud, obnouxious, usually overweight, low self esteem, soccer moms who base their families worth on what kind of deals they get for Christmas.
Having worked retail for too many years I still get nightmares about those stupid people.
BB has the Panasonic 42PX60U for $999 .... I paid $2500 for that tv when it came out in march.
Excellent Plasma and for $1000 how can you go wrong?
The Westinghouse is the 720P model:
http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=72
BestBuy.com has the Black Friday Ad up on their website.
Some stores will do price matching, but only at the time - i.e., you'd have to wait in lines w/everyone else to get the adjustment, or if it's a that-day-only deal do it after 2-3 when the lines die down.
And I am sure that all of the "overweight, low self esteem, soccer moms who base their families worth on what kind of deals they get for Christmas" will appreciate not having to deal with an attitudinal, obnoxious, overcompensating-for-their-own-issues salesperson whose statement indicates that judging people and looking down at others is better than working on improving themselves (maybe by learning some spelling to get a better job so that they won't have to deal with the 'herd'). Yeah, people are rude and dumb. News alert. Maybe the best way to solve that problem is by not being a part of it, and give those people some positive attitude to enable their esteem to grow. (and no, I am not fat nor a soccer mom; I work retail part-time by choice, not by need, and let go of the actions of others and focus on my own actions instead).
GottaDeal.com already has a list of all the Black Friday items you can buy now:
http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/Online
Plus they have all the ads, scans, etc... (all the other BF sites get the ads from here)
Riles it is for the Panny too. Go to their website^^ It's there in plain english.
Seems they didn't release EVERYTHING in their pamphlets knowing that it would be leaked.

Meijer has a 42" Plasma TV for $499 after rebates!

Alright this is just hearsay but my buddy said amazon would be selling 1000 Xbox 360s at the low price of $100 on thanksgiving morning. I doubt this is real... and if it is well those things will sure go fast now. Anyone else heard about this?
Ben,
As I am buying this tv on Friday one way or another, I did a thorough search of bbuy deals for Friday and there is not a single Panasonic tv in their ad, let alone the 42px60u specifically. If you saw it for $999 somewhere else please let us know as I'm sure a couple people would be interested.
