Linden Lab land plans

Jack Linden reports on Linden Lab's pricing and supply plans for land over Q1 2008. According to Jack, mainland prices are averaging L$6.3/sqm - though a more useful number would be the median price per square metre.

"[A]round L$6.3/m, ... we feel is a good level, low enough for those coming into the land market for the first time and high enough that both mainland and islands can be profitable for those interested in trading or leasing land."

No new sims will be auctioned for the rest of this month - with only recycled land coming up on the auction block. Jack says Linden Lab may auction whole sims again starting in January, depending on what the prices do.

Recycled mainland parcels (land which was not sold prior to an account being terminated, either by cancellation or permanent ban) that have not yet been placed in the auction system consist of about 1 million square metres (15.25 sims, approximately).

"We want to keep pushing hard on getting as much of this abandoned land back into use and generally cleaned up, so expect to see more L$ auctions being posted to the auction pages through January," added Jack.

Additionally, tier and island fees will not rise before the end of Q1, 2008.
