We thought Dell was out of the DAP game for good
once they killed off the Ditty, but our agents spied a gadget that may possibly be that
SideShow-enabled Dell digital audio player
we heard rumors about a few days ago. Nothing official yet, but what you're looking at is a "production-ready concept design" for a DAP that's supposed to pop into a dock on your laptop or desktop where it would double as a SideShow display. The model we spotted sported 1GB of storage, Bluetooth (no word on A2DP), and touch-sensitive controls. No word on when, or even if, this thing might see the light of day, but now we're pretty damned curious. Click on for a couple more pics.
is it just me or does this "concept" pmp already look pretty used, i think this one may already have seen its fair share of dell executives trouser pockets.
Er... Where's the DELL logo in the last picture?
And I'm fairly certain I just saw this device in an on10 video about Windows Sideshow, where it was actually an LG device. Is this actually an MS concept licensed out to other companies?
probably stuck inside the dell executives trouser pockets.
It's backlit and not lighted
very good point ben, cant believe i missed that!, judging by the style of the buttons, i would put money on it being produced by LG or Samsung.... just a thought......

About 10 minutes in to the video he pulls out an MSI device that looks remarkably similar... They're everywhere...
Sideshow suddenly makes a whole lot more sense to me now. And has anyone else noticed that the first picktre says "Slideshow Player". Closest thing they could get to "Sideshow" I spose.
Anyone else notice the last picture has no Dell logo?
Could be a fake...
The Dell logo is not in the final picture because the touch sensitive controls are not activated, hence the Dell logo is not illuminated.
why does it only have a gig???
the slideshow player is a gadget made by microsoft to show a slideshow of photos
it just happes to be similar to sideshow...
Are there any other type of controls that ARENT touch sensitive? Do most other players go with MIND sensitive controls? Haha ;)
It would be great if this popped into a PCMCIA slot, rather than having yet another weird proprietary poop slot for something with 1GB of memory.
Looks like a Meizu Miniplayer? The scroll bizwack to the side is different but looks to be the same idea.
If it doesn't have A2DP its worthless.
How does a SideShow device work when it's not plugged in? wireless?
if you watch that video linked above, it explaines
basically, by usb, bluetooth, wifi, serial, or rf.
