Earlier today we got a little face time with iriver's new clix 2 -- believe you us, it's everything we were hoping for in the clix followup. It's about half as thin as its predecessor (although a little wider), and the video playback is finally at a level where you could actually feasibly watch movies on the go (namely with the added support of MPEG-4 and WMV at 30fps). In other words: we want.
Great, but whens it come out and will it be in the US? I just bought the clix 4gb, and want to know if I should return it if the clix 2 comes out soon.
Are you sure that it will be coming out in febuary because i was thinking about getting a 4gb clix but i dont want to buy one if there will be a new and improved clix after i get it.
It looks sweet but really, all that spare real estate either side of the screen...why didn't they make it a widescreen? And only 5 hours battery with this new low power screen and that is at 15 fps. Not great. I have an Archs PMA430 which has a 3.5in screen but it's a large device and too big to always have around so I was considering this but how feasible is it to watch a movie on such a tiny screen? Does it hurt your eyes and make you raelly dizzy after 15 mins?
5hr screen for video is awesome, especially for flash players. And it couldn't be as thin if it was still the same length. However, the Clix2 now has 30fps, if I'm not mistaken. 2.2" is almost iPod-sized. And shouldn't you be having an Archos 404?
“While it's not exactly punching it out with the heavyweights in multi-room audio, the Mint Studio does certainly hold its own with many similarly-priced iPod docks out there.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

So I wonder, if half as big = smaller, then half as thin = thicker?
is the 4gb also gonna be black on the back?
They could have at least doubled the capacity ? 8Gb would hav been nice
Yeah, that would be... twice as thick.
iRiver Clix2 spec:

Is it still a D-click interface?
There is an 8gb version coming out in April, the 2 and 4 gb versions are believed to be released in February.
