PSA: how to spot a new silver iPod shuffle
If you're browsing the wares at your local iPod-peddlin' location, but don't want to look like a fool when you get home and discover you just bought a silver shuffle with the old school headphones -- or perhaps the inverse is true -- then you might be pleased to hear that it's easy to spot the difference: the brand new silver shuffle has silver accents on the cardboard backing, while the old version was dressed up with green. Happy hunting!

Hmm still only 1gb, no screen... ah, silver cardboard! I was wondering where that $80 was going.

The new iPod shuffle is also packaged with earbuds previously sold only with the fifth-generation (5.5) iPod and the second-generation iPod nano.

Can anyone Tell me why the all the Ipod's Prd. have such Crappy Bass ?
no matter what you change on the E.Q it really sucks..
when is apple going to fix this..even one of the Apple worker admitted it really sucks..?
Killian @ Feb 1st 2007 11:48AM
The headphones suck, not the "Prd."
Mike @ Feb 1st 2007 1:07AM
Crappy bass?
I'd have to disagree. Using my Sennheiser HD570 headphones I get fantastic bass. If anything I'd place the blame squarely on the pathetic excuse for headphones that iPods come with.
What can you expect though, they are likely 2 dollar commodity headphones painted white. If you actually want decent sound toss 20 bucks into a pair of "ear pad" headphones. If you want great sound... well, get out your wallet.

iPod shuffles (the new gen as noted here) are notable for having a fairly high bass level.

was it really a problem? cause ive heard of people being duped before, and yet the fans were saying apple had the best product boxing? i smell BS.
Revels @ Feb 1st 2007 3:35AM
I don't know where you got that from, the previous gumstick Shuffle I owned had much better bass. In tests these new Shuffles prove to have very weak bass.
Better headphones do help though :)

Maybe I'm hyper sensitive to this because I'm not a fan of Apple, but it seems like the iPod new product cycle has gotten significantly shorter. Think about it. How long were the black and white nanos around? The plain silver clip-shuffle?
Why?
Eric @ Feb 1st 2007 3:11PM
The only difference between this and the "Plain silver clip-shuffle" is the colours and the headphones.
By the way, the 1G iPod nano was available (new) for 13 months, and the 1G iPod shuffle was available for 20 months.

Are those clip-on earrings? "Put on some music"...LOL

uh, not so fast. I just got an ipod shuffle with the green print but it came with the new earbuds. The serial number and part number look like they're 2G, but the packaging looks 1G. I ordered directly from the Apple website, a week before the 2G announcement.
