Japanese hobby robot manufacturer Kyosho is back with another 1/5-scale Manoi bot, the cheerful-looking PF-01. Like its older brothers, the
AT-01 and the original
MANOI, the $1,461 PF-01 can be outfitted with a number of sensors, and each of its 17 motors can be programmed to do your evil bidding -- but only after about 10 hours of assembly. Budding mad scientists our there better hurry though -- pre-orders for the first 100 off the assembly line are due in by June 10th for release on June 30th, and Kyosho is only planning on making a total of 300 after that.

I wonder if this little guy can be used as a security guard like the Ofro robot used at a South Korean school.

Actually, we've been selling the Manoi PF-01 for a little over a month now at Trossen Robotics:

Kyosho's main industry is gas and electric RC cars and planes. Robots are their second love. I have one of their old Outlaw Raider STs...

This is pretty kick ass, though I do prefer the looks of some of their previous models.

Give it some pointy contraption to represent hair, paint blue and you have my favorite child hood super hero: Astro Boy!
