Apple's new wireless keyboard hits the FCC
Well somebody's on the ball today. Not even two hours after the announcement of Apple's new Bluetooth 2.0 wireless keyboard and the FCC's got it all approved to send 2.4GHz waves through your brain and the brains of your children. Unfortunately, they only got a pic of the keyboard's backside. That gold coloring? Our guess is the FCC's camera caught the colors wrong, but who knows, Apple could be bribing 'em with gold-plated peripherals to speed up that approval process.

Wonder if that would work with a PS3....That would rule

I believe so! With Unreal 3 with confirmed Mouse & Keyboard support, BRING ON THE FRAGS =).
Except... You probably want a bluetooth mouse, and the Mighty Mouse isn't exactly frag-ergonomic.

One of the benefits of using a desktop is that you can have a better, ergonomic, keyboard. Even the most back desktop keyboard is better for typing than you best laptop keyboard.. it may look like ass, but, its better.
These keyboards are a step backwards. Form over function FTL.

The warmth in the photo is probably from an improper white balance setting on the digital camera. happens all the time.
Dahk @ Aug 7th 2007 3:58PM
... Actually I'm hesitant about the keyboard too lol.

So is this available today? Usually when its still at FCC it takes a while right?
Austin @ Aug 7th 2007 4:19PM
Just saw on the Apple Store website these will be available in 3 to 5 weeks.

You know what really grinds my gears?
Apple downgrading the wireless keyboard. Sure, it's wireless, but was it necessary for them to take off the number pad and shrink the arrow keys? Maybe it fits better on your lap, but now I'm caught.
All I can say is, I hope my Microsoft 6000 v2 (mouse and keyboard) will work with Leopard. It's ergonomic, wireless, comfortable, stylish, and comes with an uncomparable mouse compared to the Mighty Mouse (...ha)
They know so much, yet they continue to disappoint consumers in a few options.
tzaar @ Aug 7th 2007 6:59PM
What do you all think... does this work with the iPhone?
Miek @ Aug 7th 2007 7:14PM
why - o - why did they take the number pad off the Bluetooth version?
Why would I want a laptop sized keyboard on my desk. The whole reason I would buy this is so I could use a full size keyboard at home with my MacBook Pro. Sigh.
tugboat @ Aug 7th 2007 11:21PM
Possibly for Apple TV integration down the road? Steve said they had some plans for the Apple TV in the near future.
I agree though, they really should have a full bluetooth keyboard.
Major Malfunction @ Aug 8th 2007 2:23AM
Hmm... anyone know of another non-flexible/foldable keyboard? For 80$? With Bluetooth?
No?
Yah, I can't find one either. I hope someone hacks this thing to work with a PC because I'm tired of wires and standard wireless keyboards aren't safe.
Come on Apple open that hardware and software platform up, you are too small to be seen as anti-competitive, but much longer and it just might happen.

Very nice! I could use a touchpad/joystick/trackball on a wireless keyboard though.
