Full-scale Iron Scopedog woos women while invading Japan
You'd think that a 13-foot / 2 ton, cast iron Scopedog mecha wouldn't require the services of a knee-pad wearin' festival waif, but there you have it. Built by Kogoro Kurata -- the celebrity blacksmith behind the Steampunk laptop -- this 1:1 scale robot was locked and ready for action at Japan's Character and Hobby Collection 2007 show held over the weekend. Seriously though, how tough could the mech be if he's held at bay by some chinsey chain-link?

"You wouldn't think / wouldn't require"
I'm not normally a stickler for this kind of stuff...but that was one too many "would not's" to be correct.
Also, I'm pretty you don't say 1:1 scale... you just say it's scale. Oh well. Ya'll can rate me negatively now. LOL
oddjob @ Aug 27th 2007 9:00AM
Scale implies that it's done to a reduced or enlarged scale, 1:28 or 28:1, etc. Whereas 1:1 implies normal size.
rickane58 @ Aug 27th 2007 2:45PM
wow, RTFP. It says "You'd think... Wouldn't require..." Seeing as "You'd" is an abbreviation for would, then the sentence is,
"You would think that a 13-foot / 2 ton, cast iron Scopedog mecha would not require the services of a knee-pad wearin' festival waif, but there you have it."
So please, read your contractions correctly before schooling people on "correct" grammer.

Or Rickane... it just might be possible that they read my post and corrected it. You are reading the story 10 hours after it was posted. It was changed hours ago. My quote of what they said was correct at the time. Thanks, anyways.

Edit: "I'm pretty sure"
(nothing like mistyping in a post designed to correct mistyping.)

Shenard @ Aug 27th 2007 11:01AM
If you consider plastic dolls to be real women...
Jin @ Aug 27th 2007 9:13AM
Ohmigod, none of you have heard of the awesomeness that is Armored Trooper Votoms?

"require the services of a knee-pad wearin' festival waif"
There's a dirty joke somewhere in there but I'll leave it to someone else with more imagination than I.
Rainier @ Aug 27th 2007 10:54AM
Wow, that robot looks real! But what's with the tall rusty piece of metal behind it?
Core @ Aug 27th 2007 4:15PM
This Scope Dog looks awesome! .. I wonder how much he would sale it for? Probably a ridiculous amount..
I have to admit this is very interesting to see something like this mecha built.
Arqion @ Aug 27th 2007 12:16PM
Looks like a mockup from the Anime Serie: Armored Trooper Votoms.

Looks to me like the knock-offs inspired a knock-off.
Votoms -> Heavy Gear -> Full Size Hunter -> Full Size Scope Dog.
