If you've been looking to jump into PSP land for personal reasons, perhaps are looking to upgrade to a new
PSP-2000 "slim," consider yourself a Star Wars fanboy, or maybe just like white things, the new
Darth Vader PSP could be just the ticket. The limited edition unit should be on store shelves today, but only comes as part of a $199 bundle which includes the new Star Wars Battlefront game. Of course, we're guessing most people willing to track down a PSP with Darth Vader's likeness silkscreened on the back aren't going to balk at playing a little bit of Battlefront now and then. And if paying money for things isn't really your style, you can always try your luck over at our sister site Joystiq, since they're giving away five of these bundles to some lucky readers.

It's a shame that Vader will be hidden behind your fingers. In my opinion, it would be much better to have the design in the middle of the PSP, perhaps instead of the PSP lettering (move that below the circle?)
Otherwise, looks cool.

thats pretty cool I wonder if any other types are coming out.
Shame the psp can't do emulation like this one:

They are trying so hard though.....
Derbeste @ Oct 9th 2007 1:20PM
Why'd you post the story about the box of rocks twice, engadget? O.o
Derbeste @ Oct 9th 2007 1:25PM
So engadget...
Is your "siter site" more of a site than this site? Do you have a sitest site?
rob paek @ Oct 9th 2007 2:25PM
I was wondering if they caught that. Typo Engadget, Typo!

It's on the battery/lid which means Sony didnt have to go through a great deal to get that painted on as they can remove and just send the lids through the process.
I think the whole attempt is pretty crappy. At least if the PSP was a special colour that hadn't been used before or the darth vader picture actually went across more than the battery lid, it would have been worth paying a premium. They have done the most simplest of customized jobs and want a premium for it!
Just get a sticker of Darth Vader and put it on the lid - same thing and it will save you a lot of money!
kj @ Oct 9th 2007 2:01PM
but it comes w/ a battlefront game
and its ceramic white, its very hard to look for a white psp slim right now
Boynamedsue @ Oct 9th 2007 2:07PM
the number 2000 stopped being hip when we started partying like its 2999.
Kamall @ Oct 9th 2007 3:05PM
Unfortunately, there's so many retards in this world, Engadget included. The original model's codename was PSP-1000 and this is the PSP-2000, get the picture? Just like the slim PS2 is called SCPH-70000 or something like that.
Boynamedsue @ Oct 9th 2007 3:26PM
it is unfortunate. their lives are so hard. you should see what its like for my friend mikeys brother. The worst part is when asshats throw the word around in public actually within his earshot.
no one really cares about offending asshats, like you, though.

Ummmm... How come it isn't in black? You don't see Darth Vader walking around in a white suit do you? Damn iPod envy. I hate white.
Anthony Huff @ Oct 9th 2007 3:03PM
(Whatever you want to call this rendition) I am your father.
dxchase @ Oct 9th 2007 4:27PM
The force is strong with this one!
SectionZ @ Oct 9th 2007 6:11PM
these things have been at target for almost a week now.
Jay @ Oct 9th 2007 6:31PM
Looks too much like an afterthought, and one with little effort too. I'll stick with the piano black.
Rick @ Oct 9th 2007 7:21PM
Lame. Would make some sence if it was a black device.
daddycool @ Oct 9th 2007 7:32PM
This is a disgrace.
The "Darth Vader" PSP is white???!!!
What is the world coming to?
Orcish @ Oct 9th 2007 9:16PM
Black Darth Vader on Black PSP just wouldn't work would it?
