Ask X3F: Indy's alive edition [update]

Welcome once again to Ask X3F, the community-powered feature where we answer the burningest questions around. This week, we talk Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero III DLC, DiRT 2, and storage media. Oh, and we also discuss the Indiana Jones game that was announced way back in 2006. It's dropped of the radar since then. What happened to it? Was it canceled? Find out inside.

Got a question for Ask X3F? Maybe you have a story or some information you'd like to share? Send it all to ask [at] xbox360fanboy [dawt] com.

Right, so I've read that you can't use an external drive connected via USB for save games on Xbox 360. So if this is the case, why does my Xbox ask me what device I want to use everytime I save a game? Surely if I can only use the Xbox hard drive, then this question is pointless?

Ah, but you're forgetting the mighty, mighty memory unit! That is why your Xbox 360 asks you what device you want to use. Now, why it doesn't just default to the hard drive if you don't have a memory unit is a mystery that earthly minds may never solve.

Hello Fanboys, I have a question for you. I am considering purchasing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. I think the tipping point on whether I purchase it or not is if Guitar Hero III songs will work with the Game?

DC Skate

Update: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
will not support Guitar Hero III DLC.

We're going to assume you're talking about DLC, as Guitar Hero III's campaign resides on the game disc itself. Microsoft has told us that there's no reason a sequel couldn't be compatible with a prequel's DLC. That said, it would be up to Activision and Neversoft to sort out the technical issues and legal matters involved. It's hard to imagine that Activision would go to that kind of trouble, especially given that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is being treated as a completely separate product, not an expansion pack.

Whatever Happened to the Indiana Jones game? I heard of it last years E3 or the year before and they were far on it, but now i dont see info about. Im not sure if it was based on one of the movies or not but it look like a really nice nex gen game, think of the bourne game coming out. Did they cancel it?

RecklessElf (a.k.a Andy)

Good news, the game is not canceled! We contacted LucasArts and, while we didn't get any specifics, we were told "Nothing new to report on the game as yet, but stay tuned." Companies aren't in the habit of telling us to stay tuned for a cancellation announcement, so it looks like Indy is still on track (no surprise there, nothing keeps him down). We pressed to find out just when we might expect to hear something new, but have yet to receive a response. Hopefully we'll hear something by the time E3 rolls around next month. After all, it's been quite some time since we heard anything.

I was doing a little researching on the upcoming game Grid, and I came along a page on IGN about Dirt 2. According to these articles Dirt 2 is well in development and when they described it, it sounded a lot like Grid. I was wondering if they are referring to Grid (of Codemasters as well), or are we getting the treat of a whole nother Codemasters racing game in the form of Dirt 2?

Loyal Reader, usedbert

GRID is actually part of the Race Driver series, which has been around for many years and under different names in different regions. In other words, no, GRID is not DiRT 2. So, don't worry, you'll still get your DiRT 2.

That's it for this week, folks. Keep sending your questions to: ask [at] xbox360fanboy [dawt] com.
