Real skin pounders will appreciate that the Rock Band drum pedal controller lacks a certain finesse you find in a real foot pedal. After a friend trashed his pedal in a frenzied late night jam, Justin Kistner let necessity mother the invention of a mod allowing use of a real kick pedal on your next Band World Tour. Details of how to replicate the setup are after the jump, helping you prevent those unsightly double kick flubs on Expert.

Excellent idea. I would gladly trade in my pedal for one of those.

YES!

Wow..This makes me want rock band now. Taking this to the next level, i can use my double-kick, of course, with no music that would require it.
Is there a free-style mode in rock band? It would keep me playing when minimal noise is a must.

The Rock Band drum kit isn't exactly soundless. It's loud. Not as loud as a real drum kit, but loud enough to be heard through my entire house. I can only play a few hours a day because of it. I'm thinking of doing that mouse pad mod to it to quiet it down some.

I have been using a similar set-up that I found on scorehero since I snapped my plastic one within a week.

I used the bass drum from my roland digital drums instead of a practice pad, works great and is really easy to make. $6 bucks of parts from radioshack.

That double bass pedal mod from the Score Hero forum is sick. Now I want to do that and replace the rest of the pads with V-Drums! ;)

Thanks, Barb, for featuring my project!

What I want to see is a combination of this and a roland electric kit for triggers.

This method is dumb. The better solution is to get a kick pedal and practice pad, and buy the same magnetic relay switch at radioshack and install it in the pedal just like the Rock Band pedal.

If you have a roland drum kit just use the kick trigger..Plug it into the rockband kit..Or better yet use your whole roland kit..Just pull rock band pads apart and rewire them to plug into your roland triggers..Easy and works great..Its just 2 wires..If you splice them and tap togeather you will see it make the sound you want..

Mmmmm.... I wish I had a real pedal to use. But my wife doesn't want me to have all this "stuff". But the game is a blast. The only mod I did was the pads from http://www.drumpads4rockband.com/ to make the drum sound better.
Can someone talk to my wife.... :)

Has anyone thought about being able to move the pedal closer, further underneath the drums or off to the side? I'm short, but my legs are more long than my arms are in proportion to my body. I tried putting it off to the side of the drum legs but it just slides around as i use it. I'm new to gaming mods but like what i read lately about the rock band ones.
