Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
games? 3g/video capture? decent priced screens? keyboards that work?
soooo excited. make it happen.
There's nothing wrong with the keyboards currently. The computer mice on the other hand...
there are tons of -noted- issues with the macbook pro keyboards.. not responding, freezing, in online forms and such not putting the first letter you type first where it belongs... maybe they're mainly issues with the OS.. but that just opens another whole bag.
http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/15/leopard-10-5-1-is-now-available/
kthnks.
Ni i disagree how about everything decently priced..... that would be nice...... for once
@ amitheflamer (or whatever):
what does that have to do with anything? does that fix the issue with their outrageous peripheral prices? their lack of support from many of the game creation companies? does that update fix the keyboard issue on the macbook pros?
having a snappy one word + link retort would probably net you some more cred if it actually made sense, let alone made a point.
cheeky lil bast...
.kthnks.
iDunno. iGiveup. iCan'twait.
I humbly claim to have solved the riddle:
Apple and Adobe Merger to be announced...?
Adobe AIR on iPhone and Apple TV?
See my post:
http://community.eqo.com/blog/jeff/theres_something_in_the_air_at_macworld_and_i_think_i_know_what
You're out of the loop. That keyboard issue was a software one, and it was fixed weeks ago:

@ Jeff
I don't see that one happening as both companies have totally discreet and overlapping product lines. Premier stopped being apple a while ago when Final Cut took over. It wouldn't make fiscal sense for Adobe or Apple. My 2 cents is that this is an in-between year for Apple and they're going to spend most of macworld in reflection of their recent successes. The iphone isn't due for an upgrade, Leopard 10.5.1 is just out, ipod was recently redone. The most I'm expecting is maybe a new Mac mini, ultra portable multi-touch Mac tablet, or a better Apple T.V.
Yeah there's something- 3g wireless waves. Its obviously something wireless- take it literally.
@pquistgard
iAgree. iAm with you.
hey my name is andrew s., but i didn't take that picture. oh and its definitely going to be an iplane
Nope, they just bought SFO
Maybe not a whole plane, but how much would an Apple made in-plane entertainment system rock.
whoever took this picture is a turd. a big wet turd brick.
hmm.. did someone break wind?
That was me... sorry
iFart?!
I knew SOMEONE would beat me to a fart joke. CRAP!
All the slogan means is that the kool-aid no longer needs to be ingested. It's now available in a (safe) snortable form.
hmm.. did someone break wind?
iBong.
God i could only hope they would... they actually have made some before out of there own products i read in some apple book.... But still that would be fun listen to music as you smoke. Heat activated lol.
idiot
I, for one, hope for a product that is not so expensive so I don't have to steal... I mean buy it will all my money.
Interestingly, they're using the "Vista font" on the banner.
I doubt it's the Vista font - no way in hell that would get past marketing. But it does look like a less bold version of the Myriad they used to use so it does resemble the Vista font a little bit.
The font is called Helvetica Neue Ultra Light.
Its a nice font. Were you trying to throw a cheap jab at windows by any chance?
Jesus, calm down helloUser, it wasn't a "jab" of any kind, merely an observation.
in addition, hellouser, that's definitely not helvetica neue ultra light. Try again!
The font is called Myriad Pro Light.
The font is called Comic Sans MS. It's great and looks perfect on flyers for top-end establishments everywhere.
iSmell
iFarted
whatever they launch at Macworld, hopefully that'll cause iPhone prices to come down enough for me to finally spring for it.
wimax! (yep)
Yup. Go go, gadget WiMax. Now you can download your Sex and the City while sipping an espresso, or whatever people do these days.
You may be onto something. Maybe this ultraportable has it built in? Then again, it's not exactly a widespread service. Then again, maybe Apple know something we don't.
iSmoke. Don't breathe this.
Something that Apple make that works!
A Boss who speak much good English!
Wouldn't mind an iPhone with actual _storage_, 3G or Super3G or whatever is what one would want to have nowadays, one of them non-fingerprint touchscreens and the ability to play at least relatively normal video formats/codecs without having to convert everything all the time.
iWeed
Only available through iTunes of course...
Its either a 3G iphone or el jobso is planning on letting off an arse biscuit.
"There's something in the air"
"What something is in there?"
"No, it's 'There's something in the air'"
"What something is in there?"
"Damnit, what's wrong with you Beavis?"
USB-powered apple-scented air freshener?
What about iPods and iPhones that sync wirelessly?
Holographic displays!
Probably either 3G iPhone or WiMax, but I doubt WiMax considering the fact that the only carrier doing it so far that I've heard of is Sprint and they're not in Cupertino, only Chicago and Baltimore/DC - might be referencing more environmentally-friendly products (Greenpeace ain't exactly a fan of Apple).
There's a good possibility its not product-specific though, so I wouldn't bet on anything.
Intel is also promoting wimax
@BigPana
It's not like they have a network up and running though - Intel isn't going to sell you a month's worth of WiMax, just the WiMax chip that allows your laptop to connect to Sprint's WiMax network.
May be they actually did put Bluetooth in this iPod touch after all, or may be not. I'm just looking forward to some kind of firmware update, who knows. Good 3rd party apps, nice.
iPigeon - Wirelessly sends picture messages by flying to your recipient. Syncs with the iTunes.
iBlimp.
The Beatles? Yawn...
Probably the "Mobile Macs" mentioned one of the Apple Job posts earlier last year.
There's a massive gap between the iPhone and the next Mac OS system in the chain (MacBook). If they can get OS X running fluid on the iPhone, they can probably do a whole lot more with form factors slipping in between it and the MacBook.
I reckon they'll launch something similar to the Eee, perhaps with added tablet functionality.
Apple's on a role...you can hardly expect them to launch a dud product these days. Whatever it'll be it'll probably be neat and worth buying. Incidentally I'm not a fan of their iPod but it's really let them pick up speed on their computer developments.
God I hope it's finally 3G.
Yes, it's called a banner, you nitwits. :P
The wireless gear idea is what I thought at first and is pretty valid but it could also be more eco-friendly products..
that's what i was thinking...
"something in the air... 35% less carbon dioxide by 2011!"
*everyone claps but is disappointed on the inside*
I was reading the article charting the development of the iPhone and they admit in that that it was born as a result of a year's work to get a touch-screen OSX interface working on a tablet PC.
I'd be amazed if that technology/interface (perhaps its another 'involkable' app like Front Row or Time Machine) wasn't ready by now after having been refined on the iPhone...
I thought something smelled fishy.
When are they gonna upgrade the iPod touch to 32 GBs?
Something using radio waves (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) or maybe some environmentally-friendly item.
Or maybe a 3G iPhone.
I say at least one thing they will show is a Bluetooth enabled iPod. Then again I could be wrong.
Maybe it's my money flying into Steve's pocket?
My guess is that is both the software for and the corresponding hardware for undiscriminating wireless data transfer. The wireless backup feature for TIme Machine will be fixed and a new standard for wireless synchronization will be set into place. i.e. your contacts, music, movies, photos, calendars, and email, can be synchronized wirelessly between your computer, and peripheral devices such as a backup hard drive or your Apple tv, and iPhone.
Then the next step.
Other applications may include virtual user accounts, where computers switch to the appropriate user based on your proximity. Your RFID enabled iPhone will act as key to unlock access to a server-bound user account. Despite whether I am at home, out on my portable, or at work I will be logged in as the same user whose information and account preferences are synchronized by effectively decentralizing your computer. It is the future.
Easy - wireless Apple TV along with matching iTV. All will speak wirelessly with your new iTablet. Blu-Ray will be announced built into the Apple TV. You will also be able to burn Blu-Ray copies of downloaded movies from iTunes rental fleet. Your iPhone will get a huge firmware upgrade as well, and will suddenly have many (just not all) of the features of the iTablet. We'll be able to dock our iTablet into our iTV...if they were nice they'd throw in an iPhone dock...but they won't. Oh...and this iTablet. That really is the ultraportable MacBook/SSD MacBook Pro everyone is talking about. It'll have a 32GB SSD standard, and be the first notebooktabletlaptop available with 128GB SSD as built-to-order. Both 15.2 & 17" MBPs'll get BR standard. Crazy s**t is going down tuesday.
I saw jobs in starbucks just now, and he said the new macs can divide by zero, produce ozone to reverse global warming (or poison everybody in the immediate area), and read your mind.
You heard it here first!
I'm going to have an iAneurysm.
My wife thinks they must be coming out with their own line of helicopters... ;)
SOMETHING WORTH BUYING!
My guess... 3G iPhone, mini laptop with 3G built in, all laptops with 3G built in... swap your sim card with each to be completely mobile. No wireless syncing ipods unless via a base.
It's not air, it's AIR. And it's on the iPhone.
I hope.
iGulfstream?
Too easy.
MacBook air ... Light, thin, and new.
I can't wait until Tues for Macworld. This should be a good one. I do believe that the 3G iPhone will be announced but I don't believe it will be HSDPA like some think. It will probably be UMTS instead. I hope I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
Either way, Go Apple!
No more wire, no more wire. Hurrah!
hmmm...maybe its a 3g Ultraportable!
Wireless music/file transfer iPods? Desktop based touch screen computers?
My regional manager at at&t mobility says the big announcement has to do with us, but not the iPhone. My guess would be 3G on a tablet or mini macbook.
I'm thinking it's a new AppleTV with faster processor that will finally let you download music and (to be announced: rentals) over WiFi instead of having to sync it up with a computer.
I'm just hoping iTunes sets up a subscription service for rentals but I highly doubt it. I would also love a 3G iPhone but who knows.
How many apples events are there in a year, I remember just few months back there was something happening that resulted in Engadget creating a non-apple feed - or was just iPhones launch (although I think that was before that)...
And anyway, why is there a report on a banner?!?! I mean for crying out loud, I don't have anything against a blog having bias, everybody does but seriously, you don't have to report on every little, tiny, itsy bitsy thing.
You report on the store going down, you report on banners, you report on the fact that you're going report... at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see something like the following headline "Jobs takes a dump, spends extra 20 seconds washing his hands."
Am I wrong?
Yes. Get a life. Do something else. Go somewhere else.
hahaha
I just got off a 21 hour flight from Paris with a shitty entertainment system.
Well, Speaking for myself....
it might sound stupid, but:
Apple is making Touch entertainment systems for "air"lines?
Phil Collins iPod. I called it.
Good guess, but it's actually a Thunderclap Newman Special Edition iPod.
its probably a flock of iPhones, being hurled at Jobs after he tells people their 6-month old, very expensive phone is now outdated.
I know that's what I want to do with mine :P
I thoroughly agree.
Welcome of the world of technology.
It's not like you can't keep your phone... you don't HAVE to upgrade.
Apologies if this was already mentioned AIR is the Adobe platform for taking web 2.0 apps. and making them work on the desktop that would be a killer implementation on an iPhone or Newton 2.0 (had to say it) it would follow that they would take the original web 2.0 agenda make widgets out of it and then viola a new mini app. system. Well tested SDK is already out there check Adobe labs.
That picture look like a football over a stadium. Could they be unveiling a new advertisement for the airways?
ABCD- Apple Broadcasting Channel Digital and FM A.P.P.L.E Internet Radio Broadcast
It seems to me that there's a fairly logical prediction: Apple's had a strong obsession with wireless going back to 802.11b. This year, two technologies are poised to take off - and Apple LOVES being the one in the front of the pack on cool new tech.
So...
Expect to see an announcement on either WiMAX or WWAN (or both) across the board on all new MacBooks.
Another likely candidate is WUSB support and new peripherals that use it such as wireless displays.
If the MacBook Pro 12" ends up not having an optical drive, WUSB would be a perfect way to have a slice without needing a dock or a special connector.
Mustard gas?
Sleek 3G Tablet and Ultra-thin 3G subnotebook. Sold in conjunction with 2/yr contract with AT&T w/ unlimited data plan for $30/mo.
"There's something in the air..."
Yeah, it's called 3g and apparently, Apple has just discovered it.

That "Something", is actually cancer causing radiation from all the wireless communication devices in circulation today.
