WOW... I was about to go to the hardware store to buy a new door stop. Now I'll be able to get it for free from my favourite carrier.... YAWN...
Innovative design, a gorgeous screen, and a lot of MOTOMAGX goodness... by far a competitive implementation of power user tools with consumer level tasks.
I think you better start drinking more coffee, yawner.
Nah...I'd rather sleep this one over :-)

Jurgen,
Did I miss something??? What is that comment about??? That phone is still a piece of shit in my opinion even if it has Java / Linux based OS. Motorola will slap their "Synergy" based interface over Linux / Java and make it just as backward as possible. To be honest I'm quite surprised that you're deffending Motorola - judging by your (Nick)name I assume you are in Europe, where Moto is not very popular. Whatever floats your boat. I gave up on Motorola in 2001 and never looked back. I played with Razr, Krzr, Rizr, Shtr, Crpr and other Turd they came up with and none of them was up to my requirements (I'm not mentioning WinMo based devices as Moto did not design the os on this one...thank GOD).
Have you really tried MotoMagX ? I'm only asking because many people judge before they actually see or try the things they're so bitter about. It is really different from what you saw on a RAZR or a KRZR .. It handles multitasking, it's clean and simple, fast as hell and generally good looking. It's maybe a step down from Symbian, but on par with SE and deffinitely above LG or Samsung. Trust me I've tried them all.
Moto may be having troubles, but their phones do have innovative functions. They can't seem to integrate everything together & capture imagination like the RAZR did. However, their e-ink phone & this one are very appealing.
Same crappy Moto software? Check.
Same crappy build quality? Check.
Sorry, Jurgen, no interest.
any of you guys been to your local cell phone store lately. The music centric, cheap, are still the most popular sellers. All the carriers show the fancy blackberry, htc, etc. but what is selling is the cheaper alternatives.
I agree!!
Thousands of new and complex features.....Jesus! Who needs this?
1GB internal memory, MP3 player, 2 or 3 Mpixels camera, FM and that's it!
no offence, but those are a bit complex features. 3 mega pxels and FM radio is not very common on cheap phones really. I mean, I got myself a 200 buck phone that only has VGA camera and no FM. But 3G is rocking fast =D
The problem is that today's "new and complex features" are tomorrow's standard ones, as evidenced by your 2-3 megapixel comment. If this were 2 years ago, you'd have said that just having a camera was enough.
I'm going to say before March 1st, because by then, all of those stupid pink valentine's day phones will have passed their 14 day return window.
;c)
T-mobile releases phones on Mondays...and sometimes, but less often Wednesdays. See:

Couldn't it be the European T-Mobile?
Yeah...I knew this was coming. Anytime it's in the gift bag with the Grammy's...it's usually goes to T-Mobile.
this phone is ACTUALLY V8 in bar format and landscape screen, generally same hardware (powerful CPU)
expect same performance as V8
slated 10 March
frankly, T-Mobile moto lineup is alot better after these "outdated" RAZR variants, W490 is a good basic flip with K1 form factor
forthcoming Z6w will have TalkForever support, Z10 has 3G (V8 + 3G + slider)
Actually is better than v8. It has a newer UI for faster navigation, that's basically the strong point since it has 2 GB of internal memory plus microSDHC ... so yeah, they tried to make browsing through thousands of songs a breeze with the OmegaWheel.
For the life of me I cannot figure out why everyone hates Motorola handsets... I think they consistently design some of the best looking phones out there. Voice quality on RIZR and V8 is outstanding.
I think a lot of the commenters (myself included) sometimes to forget to limit their criticism to US handsets only. I too agree that the phones that US carriers offer are absolute shit, and for that reason, I buy my phones unlocked from overseas...
I work for T-Mo by day and their handset selection is decent now and only getting better... phones like the V8, SK, and E8 have that major eye grabbing "eye want" appeal...
Now lets take a look at the competition. Nokia? Great build quality, but you gotta go to the N Series to get anything that doesn't look and feel like a brick. Samsung in the US? Don't make me laugh. I can't speak for LG as T-Mo doesn't sell them, but I've seen some nice offerings from them (GSM Chocolate, Shine...)
I think the Synergy OS is by far and away the most efficient to use over all other platforms. All the basic stuff can be accessed in only a few clicks, and even less with customisation of the 4way dpad... MOTOMAGX is great, but very un user friendly at the start. Symbian/S60 is great too, but I don't find it as friendly as Synergy, and I should say that I just got rid of a Nokia N76 (loved it, but just time to move on...) for an iPhone.
Hey!! Thats great .. I love to use T-Mobile...
