Elmo Live! gets stripped of his dignity, red fur
Heads-up: this post contains graphics unsuitable for viewing by not-yet-hardened 6 year olds. Now that you've read that (and hopefully shielded your youngin's innocent eyes from the image above), we're here to tell you that the unspeakable (though inevitable) has occurred. Yes, friends, dear Elmo Live!, which probably won't be seen selling for MSRP until January of 2009, has been splayed. Torn down. Stripped of every ounce of animality he had. All so that you could see what really makes this bizarre critter tick. You can tap the read link for more, but trust us, the worst is already staring you in the face.

Less creepy already.
j_g_puff @ Oct 16th 2008 6:55PM
I once saw a sloth that had been shaved (for medical purposes). It looked almost exactly like this, except it was hanging upside down and eating leaves. Now THAT was scary.
brando_commando @ Oct 16th 2008 6:56PM
Now he looks more like a fiending cookie monster.
Esat Dedezade @ Oct 16th 2008 6:13PM
I'm about to go to bed.
That picture will haunt my dreams.
Thanks a lot, goodnight.
marko @ Oct 16th 2008 6:13PM
Hahaha. That's awesome.
I don't know :\
vibhor goyal @ Oct 16th 2008 6:14PM
Looks pretty much like a robot, I am already thinking if we can add some programmable chips to it????
Lowest Ranked @ Oct 16th 2008 6:17PM
As opposed to what other kind of chips?
Potato chips?
Jon Doe. @ Oct 16th 2008 6:24PM
Not generic chips. Frito Lays has superior bandwidth and processing capabilities. Esp ruffles. The wave allows more processing power in a tighter space.
diuqil @ Oct 16th 2008 6:48PM
Wrong Jon Doe.
The wave chip (ruffles) would provide better heat dissipation due to its surface area, as it is essentially a heat sink. Which means better over clocking abilities.
Lowest Ranked @ Oct 16th 2008 6:49PM
Either of you. Please, explain how you would mount a heatsink/fan on a Ruffles chip?
Eduardo @ Oct 16th 2008 6:58PM
Either of you. Please, explain how you would mount a heatsink/fan on a Ruffles chip?
lol, you don't. You mount the ruffle chip on the heatsink
aj_robins @ Oct 16th 2008 9:24PM
God, it would be sooooo cool if you hack this.

It would have been DAMN cool if they had put in a mini terminator T-800 series exoskeleton in there. No one would know until its too late. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Derbeste @ Oct 17th 2008 10:52AM
On Dec 8, 2014 Elmo Live becomes self aware..........

giantenemycrab @ Oct 16th 2008 6:51PM
wait, these things are hard to find? My walmart has about 10 of these in stock.. Maybe I should run down there and get some.
dewp @ Oct 16th 2008 7:31PM
the elmo craze is done, you should save your time. i checked on ebay and there's a lot of ppl losing money selling these right now. i dont think anyone is willing to spend twice the price in this years economy. it could pick up later in the season, but if anything i imagine the market will get even more saturated like how it was with tmx elmo.
scott @ Oct 16th 2008 7:55PM
My local target has a bunch too. Not sure why engadget keeps mentioning it...
InfinityPlusOne @ Oct 17th 2008 9:24AM
I was grocery shopping at a local SuperStore (in Canada) and they had an entire wall full of them. Not a single box was missing from the pristine stack.
mrpoo @ Oct 16th 2008 7:05PM
I'm not sure what hardens a 6 year old, but I'm pretty sure you go to prison just for thinking about it.

I got one today for my 20 month old son and it already broke. The jaw got dislocated........
Artie Lange @ Oct 16th 2008 10:36PM
Give it a little trench coat and sell it as "Indecent Exposure Elmo". It can say things like, "Look! Elmo has candy for you!".
GoCarnivore @ Oct 17th 2008 12:02AM
Seriously the fact that not so many days ago that "Elmo Live!" was actually living, had a personality, was a unique individual and had a family really is quite disgusting.
Yoshi @ Oct 17th 2008 3:56AM
Sun is still shining. What a peaceful world. Ha Ha Ha.
By the way, haven't got anything worthwhile to do ? Ha Ha Ha.

We have these in Canada already? (ours have fur though lol)
They are selling for as low as $59.99 that I have seen
Iridium @ Oct 17th 2008 12:19PM
Parents that spent $300 and ran over other screaming parents in the parking lot to get a Tickle me Elmo, found that thier kid played with it for a day and don't really care about Elmo anymore.
Everyone is still too tired from trying to find a Wii for the past two years.
Besides the best tickle me whatever is still the TMX Cookie Monster. Elmo sucks.
webon @ Oct 17th 2008 1:07PM
now if you can make it say "kill James" then THAT would be scary/fun
Retroplayer @ Oct 17th 2008 2:32PM
I see that I made Endgadget already. That was fast. :)
Jenny @ Oct 17th 2008 4:36PM
I am now growing what could be Elmos best friend- The TickleMe Plant!
It's a REAL plant that MOVES when you Tickle It! This is NOT a Joke,
The leaves fold right up and even the branches fall down when Tickled.
It's a great Green low cost alternative or could be a friend of Elmos.
I found it at http://www.ticklemeplant.com I had to grow it myself, before I became
a TickleMe Plant fan. My Grandkids love this plant too. So, you know what they are
getting for xmas! This is a no green thumb need grow kit for all ages.

Tina @ Jan 9th 2009 2:29PM
I stripped my TickleMe Plant but luckily it still looks the same!
No batteries required. It's great that they can make a toy so interactive but who knew mother nature would out do man kind and produce a REAL plant that MOVES when you Tickled It!
What is even more amazing is that 20 minutes after the leave fold they reopen like magic!
I found this on line at http://www.Ticklemeplant.com
