What is this, the day of the tease or something? We're already at our wits' end after what RED
did to us earlier, we're not so sure we can withstand another. In an Alienware Insider e-mail (titled "Countdown to Launch") sent out to select individuals, the above picture was included -- and, that was it. We've reason to believe the new product
might be dubbed LM7, but that's far from concrete at this point. What's not far, however, is the official unveiling of whatever this thing is. Desktop? Laptop? Alienware's valiant entry into the world of
head-mounted displays? Tick, tick, tick...
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
SLI netbook! The only downside is the 15 minutes of battery life.
Haha yeah and you'd really see the effect of multiple GPUs on the 10" screen...
It's been released, it is the M17 laptop: http://www.alienware.com/products/m17-notebook.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-M17&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT
Almo, 17 inches is a bit big for a netbook.
Does it come with wheels?
A handheld that runs Crysis?
Time travel FTW!!!
Well if rumor says it's going to be named the LM7, maybe it's a desktop based on Intel's latest i7 series CPUs. Dell (nee Alienware) *has* scooped first dibs on hardware before...
Sounds likely.
voted you up due to not only your sound logic, but mostly due to the laughing man avatar.
maybe its the new alien android phone!

yaaah i hope it is... i own alienandroid.com!
they know who is going to be president of the usa
possibly a redo of the HTPC that they had recently dumped...
Oooo, maybe it's something that's actually powerful AND affordable.... SLI for under $1000 maybe? or a tower case that doesn't require a separate mailing address?
Nvidia chipset based laptop, with free inflatable moose.

Wasn't alienware the one with the curved display? I don't remember if those were ever released. And its the first thing I i thought of when I saw the picture.
I call its going to have the i7 processor (thus the name)
Only Fox news know who the president is going to be!
Probably a 3d display, or curved display... or both in one... oOOoo
I call a holodeck
Yeah, Whatever happened to Alienware's Curved Display? Last year they said it was going to be out by spring 08 (on their forums at least)
Other than a new kind of display...I can't really think of anything that would get me pumped up from Alienware.
A new Desktop? Yippy freaking doodah, I can make whatever you built for less money with better cooling and wow factor.
A new laptop? Oh goody, I bet if I go to the gym every day for three weeks my back will be strong enough to carry it from my living room to my front door without causing massive internal bleeding of course by the time I make it to the front door I'll have to take it out of my bag, plug it in for 2 hours and then frantically rush to the nearest gas station to repeat the process in an futile attempt to actually get mobile computing out of my 10 pound $3000 paperweight.
A new netbook? Oh thank god, because what the world needs is a new way to implement an Atom/Via/Centrino 2 processor, integrated graphics, 2gb of ram and an SSD drive into a shell 13.3" by 1" that should have enough room to store my wallpapers and a david bowie album before filling up and subsequently exploding.
I.. I think I love you...

^ Prove it.
Want me to prove it? I've been building High End computers for 5 years. Here's a list from newegg Versus Alienware. You may notice that some of the parts from Newegg do not match up with those from alienware. That is because the parts are BETTER. You tell me which computer you would rather have
Alienware's Overpriced Desktop. This is roughly the most expensive computer you can buy from them. Please Note that they promise you both a 790i SLI motherboard AND Crossfire graphics. INCREDIBLE! An nvidia motherboard that runs Crossfire! Truly revolutionary!

$1000 for a 4870X2? wow your getting ripped off.
try $699... AUSTRALIAN.
& you dont have liquid cooling (its the principle)
& you chose VIPER over CORSAIR DOMINATOR ? sorry dude not happening.
i think i could brush off another $1000 of those specs tho maybe more, and ye i know alienware is a rip off.
must be intel nehalem i7 in there desktops....
We're talking about a company that sells PC's with 4 GB of RAM but doesn't offer a 64-bit OS and refuses to update their software to be compatible with a 64-bit OS. Let's hope their new "breakthrough" is the realization that they're lagging behind.
Its going to be the curved display. At CES I was told Q4 2008....well its the start of Q4 2008
Yeah i think you're right. Look at the background kinda looks like an old fashioned cinema
Gaming spaceship!
Perhaps its an old announcement for something released in the UK on 11th March 2008?
An Alienware branded drilldo. To make sure you are as butt-hurt as possible after buying their overpriced crap.
There's a new 17" laptop on the website.
It's a laptop with CrossfireX.
OMG, maybe a high end laptop that doesn't die 3 times in 12 months before eventually becoming a pretty non-functional ornament on a shelf?
Or maybe a warranty that will extend a couple days beyond the normal one so that when their product does die of something that has already been reported and "fixed" multiple times, it will still be addressed instead of getting the standard "Your warranty has expired, sorry about your luck pal" response.
Seriously, Alienware can go get bent.
a multitouch joystick
The new product is the 17" M17 Laptop. It looks to be based on the old M9750 chassis. Its got the Intel PM45 chipset, and either single or dual Ati 3870 GPUs. It looks a lot more affordable than their top of the line 17" (M17x)
Its also available with 64-bit OS, in answer to some complaints above.
That doesn't answer the complaints unless they're updating their system software drivers to 64-bit. The problem is that the "wow factor" of the Alienware cases are the integrated lights (AlienFX) which cost a couple hundred dollars. However, they do not work when you install a 64-bit OS....and Alienware refuses to acknowledge the issue because they do not plan to sell 64-bit OS's. This might be a step in the right direction but it's far from answering the complaints of those who have these PC's with 4+ GB of RAM.
The teaser should be $110,308 EURO
Alienware endorsing OBAMA
So do that mean all their systems come with free anti-virus software for life now?
Called it!
9.5 pounds!
Yay for crossfire and outdated Graphics cards!!
Any chance that whatever it is that they are selling I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen with? Much is made about Apple concentrating on making systems that look good but there are a number of other manufacturers that understand how to make stylish systems (Voodoo, Sony, heck even Dell these days). Is it too much to ask for an Alienware system that doesn't look like it came out of a comic, i.e. no silly "alien" head?
Woho!!
It's here now - http://www.alienware.com/products/M17-notebook.aspx?sssdmh=dm11.113696&SysCode=PC-LT-M17&Subcode=SKU-DEFAULT&from=EMAIL:gen_20081103_m17_pdp
Well, I wish I've not bought the Asus G2Sg last month, otherwise. I must buy this one :(
