Keepin' it real fake, part CLXXII: Wu Fit -- it's Wii Fit, without the supply chain issues
So far as we can tell, the Wü Fit (see what they did there?) doesn't actually come with the Wii Fit software. But unless we're being badly deceived, the knockoff balance board should operate just fine with the official game (seriously!) -- assuming that you can find it by its lonesome, which you can't. The best (er, "only good") part? It's actually in stock for $92.95, which is more than the Big N can say about its genuine counterpart in much of the world. It's okay, we know you're seriously considering this over that eBay auction -- we promise not to tell.

Wu Fit! That's hilarious!
loocas @ Dec 16th 2008 6:44AM
Yeah, that's the most UBER Wii you can get!
tom @ Dec 16th 2008 8:24AM
We can get 3rd party controller, why not the accessories as well? I hate the bestbuy sales telling me they are sold out of the wii fit, Mario Kart and probably the Wii..
Flashpoint @ Dec 16th 2008 8:26AM
If you could actually lose weight on this one, it would be better than Wii Fit
Arran @ Dec 16th 2008 5:20AM
Does anyone know running/jogging is free?
Kelmon @ Dec 16th 2008 5:46AM
Well, for those people who use exercise videos in front of the TV, this really isn't much different and is probably a lot more interesting. While I agree that "real" exercise is always going to be better, there are times when it simply isn't convenient, such as when it's tipping it down outside. Something is certainly better than nothing.
absinthe party @ Dec 16th 2008 7:09AM
Lies! I don't jog because I don't feel like spending money on track shorts and a sweet headband. Also, jogging in loafers is awkward.
PeterB @ Dec 16th 2008 8:58AM
Jogging may be more or less free, but it's downright boring. I actually work the four miles to and from work every day and I marvel at the people who apparently get some kind of enjoyment out of panting through a grey fall morning or pitch black evening.
Ridgecity @ Dec 16th 2008 5:42AM
You know what would be ironic? that if you use this knockoff, you end up looking like a model from the nintendo ads.
PatD. @ Dec 16th 2008 7:09AM
And how would that be ironic?
EI8HT @ Dec 16th 2008 6:09AM
i just can't wait until they come out with the wu console...i'm definitely picking one up!
ack154 @ Dec 16th 2008 7:47AM
There has to be one out there somewhere... This isn't the first Wu accessory we've seen:

ebinroy @ Dec 18th 2008 8:27PM
I found a Vii,vii2, a Wee, MiWi and MiWi2, but no Wü console. The lower part of the "ü" on their logo is so thin now that I can definitely see some uninformed parents getting ripped off by this!
robmora @ Dec 16th 2008 6:40PM
I've seen the Wu accessories before and would have no problem buying them - in fact I was looking at getting some controllers as they were about $10 cheaper than the official Nintendo ones.
However, @ $93, isn't this actually more expensive than the Nintendo balance board? Given the supply shortage I'm sure people will buy it at whatever price, but I'm still surprised if it's not selling at a discount.
chefgon_ign @ Dec 16th 2008 6:26AM
In this thing's defense, there are other games besides Wii Fit that use the balance board. If this thing is compatible with those other games, then maybe there's a market for it. It's still way too expensive and labeled with intent to deceive, though.
Chris @ Dec 16th 2008 6:33AM
Its no different to none branded control pads, except its down-right decieving to everyday consumers and is massively overpriced.
Kris120890 @ Dec 16th 2008 6:50AM
It's sad that someone will probably be done by these bastards. I wonder how many people have been fooled this Christmas. I can spot a rip-off a mile away because I know what to look for but not everybody who is looking for a cheap deal know what to look for.
Dizznizzle @ Dec 16th 2008 7:04AM
I'm betting this thing probably skimped on internals (ie. it's probably just a scale rather than a series of sensors - it knows when you're on it or off it ... and maybe how much you weigh in chickens).
As long as we're on Wii Fakeness - I saw the Vii the other day. They wanted $150 for that chunk of crap.
GingerFox @ Dec 16th 2008 12:11PM
'how much you weigh in chickens' thats good, made me chuckle, cheers:)
Hashbrown Hunter @ Dec 16th 2008 7:35AM
Failure to call it You Fit is a deal breaker for me.

joe23521 @ Dec 16th 2008 10:23AM
Then how come all the screen shots are in Japanese?
kevin @ Dec 16th 2008 8:29AM
Gee, I wonder if the "anonymous" tipster just happens to be the guy selling this...
*cough*
prefekt @ Dec 16th 2008 8:35AM
I hope Wu Fit comes with a warning to 'Protect ya Neck'.
Sam Stone @ Dec 16th 2008 11:23AM
Well, that made my day.
Wu-Tang clan ain't nuttin ta F' with!
Ilja @ Dec 16th 2008 8:38AM
Oh great it works with the real Wii, ( Now the hard part, how do I get the software if it doesn't sells separately from the real Wii fit )
chefgon_ign @ Dec 16th 2008 9:17AM
You don't. It should work with We Ski and Rayman, though. And if all you want is weight tracking, you can borrow a friend's copy of Wii Fit and install the channel off of it.
TonyStarks @ Dec 16th 2008 9:29AM
Damn prefekt!! You beat me to a Wu-joke!!! LMAO!!!!
emE-tee8-O.D. Man @ Dec 16th 2008 9:39AM
People are always trading in games they get w/ peripherals to Gamestop, etc. Like Guitar Hero, people trade in GH2 but keep the guitar.
Maybe look there for a used copy of Wii fit?
Boarderwoot @ Dec 16th 2008 9:55AM
I dont know if things have changed or not, but when GH3 came out for WII people were pissed about the no stand alone guitar so they bought two packs and tried to sell the game back to the gamestop by my house and they wouldnt take it because they couldn't resell just the game. I'd imagine its the same for wii fit.

For any of you in New York, you can get a Wii Fit pretty easily at the Nintendo World Store. They get 200-250 in each morning but sell out around Noon. Just letting you all know.

RZA, GZA, Raekwon, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, and Masta Killa are not amused. And ODB just rolled over in his grave.
Expect a lawsuit Because you know what they say "Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' to ....".
