Blazepro's Wireless PS3 Keypad is 80% cheaper than Sony's, and it costs less too
Oh it's boxy alright. But what Blazepro's Wireless Keypad for the PS3 lacks in highfalutin curves is more than made up for in price: just $11 compared to the $50 you'd have to pay for Sony's own Bluetooth Wireless Keypad. Unfortunately, there's no mention of included rechargeables and Blazepro's keypad communicates with the PS3 via a 2.4GHz USB dongle instead of using the PS3's built-in Bluetooth. Shame, but at least it includes a "Leap-frequency communication solution" and "strongly anti-jamming." Maybe you should just wait for the reviews.

Man, that is ugly...
This thing is stylish, if only ugliness is a style.
This is the controller of choice for the new Instant Messaging Hero game.
Just by looking at that thing I can already tell you will get what you pay for.
The PS3 chatpad is relatively well-designed, even though it's above the controller as opposed to below it (like the 360's chatpad). It still works great, however, and is not as much of a stretch for your hands as you would believe simply by looking at it.
Plus, the motion trackpad features of the chat pad are nice once you get them calibrated and working PROPERLY. I've seen too many people complain of the chatpad's crap sensitivity when they are using it as a trackpad, but when I ask them if they calibrated it as per the manual suggests, they always say no. Bluetooth is nice because you don't have to worry about interference when something gets between you and the controller.
By "PS3 Chatpad", I am referring to the official Sony peripheral. This thing looks like a cheap knockoff -- though judging from the unnecessary spin that Engadget puts in the title of this article, you wouldn't think it.

80% cheaper, 100% crap.
Whoops, double post!
TRIPLE POST!
....
POSTING SPREEEEE
I own one of these, as well as the official sony unit. This thing is a piece of shit. The sony unit is better.
I'd rather game with an Atari Jaguar controller than this monstrosity.
One nice thing about this is that you shouldn't have to have it attached to the controller to use.
Exactly. I rarely need the keypad anyway so this would be pretty good in my eyes, chucked in a drawer for the few times I need it. At that price, who cares?
Isn't this exactly the same as the one MadCatz released a year or two ago?
OMG You are right!

This thing is a knock off of a knock off! LMAO!
haha, i can be quite cheap sometimes...but not THAT cheap. i mean jesus h christ that thing is, well...not very pretty. i think the sony chat pad may be worth it just because it doesn't suck up one of your USB ports
I'd agree with not losing a usb port. I accidentally fried the battery in one of my controllers by connecting it to a double powered 2.5" hdd usb cable. I saw the usb opportunity when the controller ran out of steam and went for it without thinking. Damn sony for being so stingy with their usb ports.
I have the logitech PS3 Pro keyboard, works on bluetooth doesn't need a USB,
though i wanted to get the offical PS3 keyboard, but they dont yet sell it in my region, so i got this instead, and it is pretty neat and comfy when typeing,
P.s. My PS3 has 4 USB :P
This made me wish I was browsing with images turned off.
That thing is disgusting and looking fucking heavy too, makes it seem like the pads gonna topple over.
I wouldn't get it, don't care how cheap something this ugly is.
There's no point getting a slick piece of kit like the PS3 and then smearing shit on it with something like this, if you can afford a PS3, I'm sure you could afford the official chat pad.
Im suprised no one said fugly yet. Either way, i wouldnt mind its looks for that price.
>boxy.
Did anybody else shudder when they read that?
Okay I'll probably get low ranked for this, but I wonder if this would work on a pc or a mac. I could imagine this would be nice for people with HTPCs, in fact a tiny keyboard would rock for my appletv especially with couchsurfer.
It may be 80% cheaper. But, it has 100% no chance of being purchased by me. Ugly, ugly, ugly.
SONY's official PS3 chat pad is a pretty slick piece of tech, but without a backlight for the keypad, you're gonna have to leave the lights on to use it effectively.
what's wrong with using a regular keyboard, cost cheaper the either of these doodads
WTF ??? This is IDENTICAL to the Madcatz chatpad released a long time ago. That's just stupid.

You get what you pay for.
I bought that thing a few months ago for like $10.
It was cheap, but the quality is very poor.
It's not comfortable to type, there's no way you can type blindly like on a normal keyboard or on the new PS3 Keypad.
Erasing/Backspace will take 2 presses.
Either buy the official PS3 keypad, or buy a wireless keyboard. But don't buy this crap.
I'll take a dozen!
exactly like the mad catz that i bought last year, its OK mostly crap, attaching it to controller like that completely throws off the balance and weight of the controller, add the weight of this plus the weight of the dualshock 3 and you get your wrists hurting all kinds, at most i have it laying around the ps3 in case i need to type something long to someone, but in most cases i can get away with on screen keyboard faster, they skimp out on keys forcing you to use shift and FN keys too much which takes too much time, even backspace requires the FN key which makes it suck hardcore.
I WOULD ADVISE AGAINST THIS AND JUST FORK OUT FOR THE SONY BRAND if that, im contemplating getting the Sony one but only after i feel it, i don't like all that weight hanging so far out in front, it would have made sense to do (cant believe im saying this) what Microsoft did with their keyboard and stick it in the middle. you can never go wrong with sticking it in the middle....
The official one is £17.99 ($25.05) on Amazon UK. Why settle for second best at that price?
Zing!!!
NO THANKS!
Last month I bought some cheap ps3 bluetooth madcatz headphone and I'm still crying.
They are so bad that they disconnect the wi-fi on the ps3. They are basically useless for any device.
That thing is so ugly that I just puked in my mouth.
awesome, i was wanting a dirt cheap bluetooth keyboard for a while
lol title
