Palm going Centro for next webOS handset?
The Boy Genius Report just got ahold of this ultra-blurry shot of what purports to be Palm's next webOS device, with a supposed fall release date and zero other info to go on. From the looks of things the keyboard is stationary, but with the relative height-to-width ratio (and last night's "Mini-Pre" rumor) we're thinking the keyboard and screen might be shrunk down slightly -- which, were we to conjecture further, could mean a webOS Centro. Or perhaps Palm's gone large and produced something entirely more delicious.

Someone photoshopped a Blackberry Bold image?

It is the Bold photo shopped... lame
Don't they have to come out with their first webOS device first?
Not any more!
The front-facing keyboard with touchscreen form factor of the Treo and Centro line is definitely my preferred smartphone form factor- if this turns out to be true I will be pleased.
same with my dad - he's at a pretty large corp (i think 3000+ smartphones last time I checked) and he's one of probably a hundred who have held out against blackberries...he prefers his old 755p and Centro because they have touchscreen + qwerty + nothing to break (sliding mechanism, etc etc)
i'd have to say centro suits my needs as a student / techie but I think for a large segment of the population, portrait static keyboards are a marketable device
i use a Treo now (and a Q9c before that) and i love that form factor of the portrait keyboard vs. the landscape sliding keyboard. but i feel like the bigger screen justifies the Pre being a slider so i'm ok with it even though i'm generally against sliders in general.
It actually looks great... but I prefer the slider with the bigger screen.
i'd like it to be thin as a razr2 v8.... so the bulge won't be too obvious in my pants....
Don't think you'll have to worry too much about that issue.
thats what she said
someone was bound to say it
Bullshit! Looks like a Blackberry to me. Anyone with sense would no this story holds no weight.
Anyone with sense wouldn't spell "know" incorrectly.
Just sayin'.
I would have to agree with him on the Blackberry comment, except for the "know" part. It looks like a Blackberry Bold just with the screen stretched. It even has the trackball and rounded edges. The black bars next to the trackball are Blackberry's usual 4 buttons. I'm disappointed BGR didn't recognize it before making a bogus post.
It looks like an old BenQ P50. And that is not a bad thing, this is a great form factor. But I'll take a Pre first pls
Hurray! More WebOS devices! Fixed keyboard! TREO LIVES!
UFO?!?!?
I don't doubt a treo-esque device with webOS will come soon after the Pre, but this image is absurd. For me, webOS suits touchscreen without a navigation wheel/bar(as seen above).
Long live WebOS.
Long live all OSes. Except OSX. Cause it's a douche.
I think it's fake. Why would you have a big "Card Button" (or whatever the center button is called on the Pre) taking up so much space if you could just integrate it into the ever-present static keyboard? Also, the Pre is already extremely small, making something like this and then saying it's smaller than the Pre means that the keyboard has been shrunk down to completely unusable size.
Blurriest photo EVER!
how about that web OS treo.....
I live in KC and over the past month, I have heard several Sprint employees mention the Pre Centro coming in Q4 like it was common knowledge.

It's just a poor photograph of the Pre. The dimensions match up perfectly and you can even see a slight hint of the slider function between the screen and the QWERTY.
