Pre-ordered Viliv X70s delayed to August 11, new customers might have to wait till September

The way we hear it, there are plenty of Viliv fans out there disappointed that Dynamism missed its promised delivery date for pre-ordered X70 units this week. The retailer says that component shortages are responsible for the delay and is now hoping to deliver by August 11, but there's worse news: new orders aren't expected to ship until September 2, turning what was once a fashionably late arrival to US shores into a rather embarrassing month-long delay.

I would go for one, but that "sphere" launcher just looks...I dont know the exact words. Maybe too deviantART-ish, and last minute?

If you can spin the sphere-cube to get access to the rest of the spheres, it's pretty much a re-skin of the original TouchFLO cube. Except logically it would be less functional since one would expect a sphere to have the same function assigned to it regardless of what side you look at it from.

I was looking at getting one of these, but realised that the screen is way too small, the processor too crap and in general, way overpriced for what you get - especially if you want any kind of 3G capabilities.

Instead I went with an HP TX2 and bought a cheap HuaWei E800 3G card to go with it.

i just got that email yesterday, i'd called a few days before and it was on target. so it was pretty disappointing to get letter expecting it to be a confirmation it was on its way, vs a delay.

no real hassle though, it was a good deal.

Win Mo, no. But a mini XP machine is still relevant. Should be easy enough to convert it to Windows 7 when the time comes.

What is with these names? I have just read down the engadget front page and seen "Zi8", "Zii", and "Viliv". These names are, well .... bad. Is this the *steaming* output of the latest crop of marketing grad students? Is this what we get from all the brand spanking new product-name consultancies that have sprung up in the wake of economic turmoil (ie - people losing their jobs)? Or do people in their 20s only talk in baby talk nowadays, much like my younger sister? Or am I finally just getting old and don't understand whats the matter with kids these days?

I don't get it.

I preordered during their second batch of promotions, so now I'm expecting it'll get to my house while I'm out for a week. Wonder if someone will pick it up off the front porch for me?
