HTC Fiesta: definitely Android, headed for AT&T
Months and months after the telltale signs appeared over at the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, we've now got further confirmation that HTC's as-yet-unpeeped "Fiesta" will indeed be an Android handset. The good folks over at Cell Passion "stumbled upon" the UA Profile for this bad boy, also known as the HTC T5252, and here's what we know: the phone will boast a QVGA display, and a numeric keypad (read: non-QWERTY). Did we mention that internal HTC linking indicates this puppy is headed to AT&T? Yeah, we're definitely getting one -- to go with our super stylish, tricked-out Ford of the same name.

I was planning to make a comment about the Ford Fiesta, and I was beaten to it by the article! Curses!
At least you didn't boast about being "FIRST NOOBZ YES! PWNAGE!"
My parents used to have a Ford Fiesta. I thought it sucked, but then they got a Toyota Aygo and now I really miss it.
1980s boy-racers loved the Ford Fiesta XR2. I was a Ford Escort XR3i boy-racer back then. Those were the days...
Finally!
240x320? Great, another Blackberry style PDA with a 2.4inch screen. Like we didn't have enough of those already.
Even the Centro has 320x320...
As long as at&t sticks to the damn iPhone we will not be seeing any other high specs devices on this network.
We will continue to see qvga screens and super old PDA's showing up on this network....
Non-QWERTY keyboard though? That's a deal breaker for me, although it'll be good to have an Android phone heading to AT&T.
Honestly, I don't know why they would bother with T9 anymore... Physical keys just for dialing aren't any more convenient than a touchscreen. It's not like there's a huge difference between them like there is between on-screen and physical qwerty.
I suppose there are still people out there who probably prefer itthough. Wierdos.
Android has an screen QWERTY keyboard.
I like to use my phone for phone calls and not much else (not into the giant monthly bills), and it works well for that. But Android seems a bit overkill for that kind of phone.
but Will,is a T9 any better than a touch screen dialer? I don't think one is any easier to use than the other. Though, between physical qwerty and on-screen qwerty, there are huge differences in speed, accuracy, and ease of use.
Awesome! It's about time AT&T got on the Android band-wagon. Kinda bummed about the numeric keyboard, but other than that NICE! Now hopefully they don't require a huge internet fee :)
Its AT&T. Huge fees are the only kind they have.
Huge fees are the only kind any major provider with decent coverage has. i feel like there should be some price-fixing investigations but im too tired to bitch about it right now. AT&T works for me for the time being.
maybe this device won't require PDA Personal because it has no QWERTY keyboard, which is part of AT&T's ways of considering a device a smartphone. If that is the case, I will be using my upgrade to get this :P
...T9? smartphone? dead before it even hit the ground
I'm interested to see if Android underpinnings make their way down the market to simpler phones. There could be some interesting possibilities with a simple dumbphone with Android powering it.
Sweet. Now it just needs to be be unlocked and I'll be importing this baby into Australia.
Nooooooo! you will go to jail
I just want HTC to start making Android phones for Verizon. Verizon needs a good Android phone (or the Pre/other WebOS device) in order to keep me using their network. I don't think Moto is up to the challenge.
jpegs are not for text.
At least it's not a png photo. I hate it when people do that.
Google OS. Google Voice. AT&T.
Now that the elements are in place: "Double, double, toil and trouble"
Gross. The companies who make cellular devices need to figure out that the people want netbook resolution screens on their phones.
And the people that make netbooks need to figure out that we want HD screens on our netbooks.... and for the same priceish.
Lame. I want a high end Android devise on AT&T. Crossing my fingers for a Sony Xperia X3 or HTC Hero (short Sprint exclusivity?).
HTC Hero for ATT would be amazing
I just want free cell phone service, as a "economic stimulus"
I'd pay for cell services if data was a free "economic stimulus".
screen size=fail...fail..fail...they had better pay customers to take this thing
@cmsb55 I hate to burst your bubble but Moto is releasing an Android powered phone called something like the Morrison this year, so yes they are up to the challenge and AT&T will carry it. That makes this HTC Android phone AT&T's second Android powered phone. I plan on having one of each.
uhhh, hello? did everyone forget about the lancaster?
http://bit.ly/TwOVx
screw you, at&t. :[
am betting its a updated cingular 3125...
Keep it up AT&T... I getting starting to get impatient with you... give us a high end Android phone!
We've yet to see the a low end Android phone although all along they have promised them. I'm not sure it's possible. Even the G1 isn't 100% snappy all of the time; any owner will tell you that. Putting droid on a lower end phone would probably mean a new UI with little to no widgets, no background tasks, etc.
you know you're nerdy when you're discovering up and coming handsets via the source code of websites...
WTF HTC QUIT IT WITH ALL THESE OTHER PHONES, WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL WITH THE HERO ALREADY?!?!?!
*humph*
Give us the Hero already goddamit!
I don't really think that "boast" is an appropriate verb to use when revealing its QVGA screen resolution.
What the hell is this shit they're trying to sell now?
Fuck AT&T...im switching to Sprint.
