Video: Philips' 3rd gen Aurea 'egg' remote gets put through the paces
What better to complement your new trippy, edge-glowing Philips 3rd gen Aurea HDTV than an egg-shaped remote? Our friends at Engaget Spanish hunted down the controller and walked away impressed at its build construction and design -- but not before capturing numerous pictures and footage, of course. There was some concern with the rigidity of the buttons, but nothing worth squabbling over on this bundled device. Hit up the read link for the full, machine-translated impressions, or affix your gaze on the pics and video below.

WTF is that!?!!? :S
So we are even comparing remotes to iphones now. lol.
At least you can change the battery in this thing.
That's obviously a Pre, not an iPhone.
Wow! I think I may be able to back in time with that and make the corrections where history is wrong. You know, give it a push when it's needed.
The design of Phillips' TVs is definitely pretty unique in the industry. They always catch my attention - I'm just too scared to get one! I think the last Phillips product I used was my uncle's CD-i player haha
holding it next to the iphone really just shows how big the iphone is, not how small the remote is.
I love Drita
Am I the only one who think this is a cool design wouldn't mind it for my bedroom
That's what she said.
About damn time someone showed some innovation in the TV remote field.
Beautiful design. Never thought a TV remote could be considered sexy. Smart, simple and form fitting... Makes my remote look like a brick!
humpty dumpty, is that you?
Kinda looks like the 'Player' icon on the tv has burn-in around it O.o!
Yuck. That's a fugly remote.
Engaget, or Engadget?
No, they just wrote out how a spanish person would say Engadget.
"Hoy tienen el nuevo control remoto que se llama el huevo aurea. Engaget es mi sitio web favorito! Fajitas!
Que burrito (bonito)!
Ha! Fajitas and burrito are Mexican! no Spanish! ;) And, sorry, but we say "Engadget" too (with "d"). It's an universal word :P We only change the pronunciation of the letter "a".
;)
This is so going to help me track evil aliens from the future in our ongoing temporal cold war...
Many of you are probably wondering why Engadget is comparing this remote to the iPhone.
Well, just recently Engadget starting comparing products with the same amount of processing power and usefulness.
So, as you can see.
A Pre would be compared to a Hero.
A Honda to a Toyota.
Apples to apples.
An iPhone to a cheap, plastic Japanese remote.
Japanese? Not really.
Awesome. I wonder if the remote also functions as a mouse.
