Instinct HD spotted with box, looking chubbier than ever

Look, we enjoy a bit of excessive caloric intake now and again ourselves, but the much-leaked Instinct HD really seems to have let itself go. We just got pics of the device up against a box, and the word is it "feels like a bloated s30 in your hand... and that is not meant as a compliment." Ouch. The instructions apparently say that you can plug an HDMI cable into the phone somehow, but so far all that's been discovered is the standard proprietary power jack -- so that's odd, but at least we have our first hint at some sort of "HD" functionality.

I wonder if those are really Facebook/Twitter apps or just an option to (1)go to mobile site and (2) upload media to the source. It sounds kinda cool but on the original Instinct is was very lame...think you have Youtube, click it and nope, just an option to upload something.

Anyway, a lot of people liked the original Instinct. As I've been wondering, if it truly has Opera Mobile (and if they fixed the keyboard lag) this is as good as feature phones get and I wouldn't mind sporting one.

The same reason they would want HDMI out on anything? Zune HD, etc. It's just a nice feature to have. How else would you play HD content?

more importantly, does that phone even have room to store HD content? a 32 gig micro sd card runs 80 bucks and can only hold so much content worthy of justifying the HDMI port

I want...I've been waiting like 5 months...people aren't supposed to wait for a dumbphone this long. Oh wait...people wait a year for the worlds most popular dumbphone every june.

I'm looking forward to the HD. Too bad it won't get any love. No advertising at all for it. Odd due to the name cache they have with Instinct. Even your most hip braindead iphoney heard the deep creepy voiced Instinct guy at least once a day when advertising was in full swing. So as much as sprint and samsung both dropped the support for their "best selling phone ever" quicker than a prom date with herpes, you think they would have let people know the phone was coming.

Oh well. I hope the phone is awesome. I also hope I'm the only one on engadget who buys one. I'd feel important, like I had a rare find no one else knows about. Eh...what am I saying...I should just take the blue pill and switch to AT&T and get a naziPhone like all the cool kids.

Why does the Instinct insist on having that hideous menus screen on every phone? Get rid of it and that will be the start of a good phone.

That and of course adding actual valuable features.
