HTC HD2 fulfills its unboxing obligations on video
You've already seen the HD2 that HTC would have you see, but now it's time to take the obligatory journey to the world of unboxings. Seen here in "not-yet-final" packaging, the WinMo 6.5-packin' handset looks sexier than ever, even in that still-to-be-tweaked green box. Hop on past the break and mash play if you're looking to get all sorts of jealous this morning.

Looking forward to unboxing with Android!

When you use Android, you're supporting SYNET!
I hate to tell you this with no source, but a few months ago WMPoweruser posted something with a source saying that HTC willl use WinMo for their high-end devices, while the Android will be used for phones that are for play. I'm really butchering it now, and I don't want to search for the source because that takes time, and I don't have time...hopefully someone out there reading this knows what I'm talking about and can post the link for you guys. So don't expect there to be an Android HD2.
On a happier note a similar device is the HTC Dragon, runs Android and has a 1GHz processor. If you really want Android, you should consider that phone.
If you meant Skynet, I don't think my G1 with it's processor is going to become self-aware any time soon. Maybe this bad boy with snapdragon could!
@Kalvin
If the demand is strong enough I'm sure they'll cave on that position. If not, maybe one of the geniuses at XDA-Developers could cook up an Android ROM for it.
Pretty gay music.... if the unboxer speaks Italian... well I prefer to try ti understand him than to listen that Fashion Show crap...
This is worst than the Nokia Lab music overlay.... but I know this time it is not your fault Engadget !
Typos are HUMAN, spellcheck is the tool of the robot!
@ julio
Yeah man, I meant to mention that too, but it totally slipped my mind. Haha....there's Android for the HD now, even though its still beta, its ported so its possible =D
This with Android 2.0 will make me stop using the iPhone lol
I don't care that it's WinMo! I WANT!
Agreed. This phone would be a million times better without WinDoh!s inside.
Wow that screen is humongous.
I WANT this.
your pocket, on the other hand, is trembling in fear while lubing itself up right now
'tis won't fit in my pockets -____-
The HD2 is only a few mm bigger than the iPhone. What most people forget is the iPhone has a rather thick frame around the screen were the HD2 doesn't
I'm so jealous
yea that's a massive Do Want.
BRING it to ME!
Can not wait till 11th november !
Please god let Sprint get this. This is really all they need to kick att ass out of that second spot!!
unfortunately, the sim on top fo the battery tells u that its gsm only.
They guy is obviously not from the US, so it HAS to be GSM for him, there are no CDMA networks outside the US.
we have CDMA network in india....we have had it for about 9 years now.
I wish they'd standardize them all to GSM. CDMA isn't much use to anyone once you've left the states. Roaming on a GSM is as simple as turning your phone on in another country.
Can't wait for this to hit the States! Also, I thought this was supposed to be heavily skinned. That menu looks like standard WM6.5 to me.
i think they skin everything but the program menu (and maybe some deep down options screens, i'm not sure).
Meh Windows Mobile 6.5
Still waiting for vaporwear Windows Mobile 7 to come out!
good god clak you're still here? i know it doesn't take a lot of effort to make an account, but after getting banned 33 times one would think you would realize you're not wanted here.
Which is precisely why he keeps coming back. He has no social life, and the closest he knows how to get to one is provoking irritated responses from the online community. It makes him feel important--scratch that--a little less insignificant. Here's a friendly piece of advice, Clak: get a life.
His comment appears to be dressed in vaporwear..
I was this close (holds thumb and forefinger a negligible distance apart to demonstrate) to forgeting about Clak but noooOO... Whatever, I'm going to bed.
Nice timing on the music.
i wanted to see if anyone else noticed as well. like when the yellowish windows screen came on during boot-up and the music started. it was a pretty cool touch.
I've owned the Touch Diamond and Touch HD (both imported phones), and the boxing was very elegant and professional looking. I'd say that HTC is making a huge step changing its way of packaging to aim at a more broad spectrum of people, not only business people. I don't like Apple, but I'd have to say that the HD2's boxing is like the iPhone but with a kick to it. I'm getting this sexy beast before winter break starts =D
Oh, and on a somewhat random note, I don't like "HTC Quietly Brilliant" motto. I prefer "HTC Innovation" because in my opinion it sounds a lot sexier.
'Beta' packaging? this is going too far people.....
No, it's normal.
This needs to come out for all the carriers like the touch pro 2.
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
It looks like this has the normal capacitive screen, and not the screen from the earlier photos which showed a multi-touch resistive screen (the small lined-up dots). That's too bad, I was hoping they'd use a new kind of resistive multi-touch instead of the pre-existing capacitive technology.
@Andrew Yes the G1 I have now has both the Virtual Keyboard and the Physical Keyboard and I tried using the virtual and didn't like it, I just prefer the physical keyboard I hardly ever use the virtual keyboard. I agree that for some a physical keyboard is not necessary but I still prefer a phone with one.
Want.
So.
Hard.

That's what she said..?
I am looking forward for this phone. I DO want ths HTC Simba - the Lion King of all Smartphones.... .Here it *ROAR*
Want. Wish it had Android and would be Sprint (but would consider switching to V if it was Andriod over there.) WinMo is just too decrepit.
This phone looks absolutely amazing, and the fact that this runs Windows Phone instead of something better is totally offset by the amount of screen real estate and snapdragon processor. This phone makes "Droid" insignificant on all accounts.
Great - 4 mins of a nicely focused USB wire - with a blurry object in the foreground.
Is it a prerequisite to have no idea how to correctly focus before you post a video on this bloody website?
God I'm ungrateful. Low rank me....I deserve it.
That is one damn fine piece of hardware...until it turns on. Why can't this be Android???
it's called HTC Dragon and it's coming soon
My only - read, only - real issue with WinMo at this point is what I perceive to be piss-poor battery management. Maybe I'm being too harsh. I've never owned an iPhone or Pre, but compared to my BB my HTC Diamond (Sprint) has the stamina of fat kid at a free skate. I assume that WinMo has something to do with it... or maybe it's just the hardware/firmware. In any event, I'd seriously consider another WinMo phone (like this) if there is some improvement on that front to justify the cost. I'm tired of holding out for Android to "get there."
