We've just been able to confirm with a trusted source that the Incredible -- one of the codenames found in
HTC's leaked Android 2.1 ROM -- is destined for Verizon. We don't know what the Incredible is, but given its... well, incredible name, we can only assume it's going to be a beast -- possibly yet another name for the
Dragon / Passion. Our source isn't sure whether Incredible is a go-to-market name or just something that's being thrown around internally, but frankly, it's just dorky enough so that we hope they stick with it.
A Snapdragon processor and atleast a 3.7" AMOLED screen is all I ask. Oh yea, and please god do not run WM. Android with Sense UI and I'll preorder right now.
@(Unverified)
Odds are if its in the Android 2.1 ROM, its probably very unlikely to be a WM device, but I do see where you are coming from! If only they HD2 was android....

If it was o the leaked android rom I'd severly doubt it would run winmo. All I ask for in Android 2.1 and Sense UI.
Well this certainly proves that Android is here to stay. But I'm a little concerned that shopping for an Android device is akin to shopping at a Baskin Robins 31 flavors creamery. I really want an Android device but everyday a new device is leaked/announced changes my plan. I came real close to pulling the proverbial trigger on a G1 a year ago until someone leaked word that a "Motherload" of Droids was only 8 months off. Whats one to do, keep waiting until OS 3.0 (Red Velvet Cake) and a multi core 2 Ghz arm chip arrives in about 6 months or??
@(Unverified) I think a lot of people feel that way. With not a promised upgrade to the latest version of android buying feels like locking yourself in.
Is this an upgrade to the HTC Stupendous?!
Let me clarify my personal wants/dreams:
3.7-4.0 AMOLED
Capacitive Screen
Sense UI (yeah Multi-touch)
Android 2.1
MSM8672 Snapdragon or TI OMAP 4430/4440 (would blow EVERY phone out the water)
P.S. General Bad-ass design
@1ofdakoolkidz what about tegra 1GHz?
And sense ui sucks, but you can root in on their if you want so you should take that off of your list, any android phone can be rooted to run the horrible HTC sense.
I'll stick with my HTC Good Enough for now.
@memaf +1 engadgeter, would read again!
So many Android phones coming out recently it's amazing. The consumer sure is getting a ton of choice.
http://www.droidforums.net
@nexusone A ton of choice is really just causing a ton of confusion. These handset makers have been in business long enough and know what consumers really want and the fact that they continue to half-ass it on hardware combinations and software features is getting extremely annoying....
If this was a WinMo device, and since it was on an Android ROM I guess it isn't, I'd guess it was the HD2.
Another hook,line, and sinker story.
Lets get all revved up so we can all crash and burn with disapointment.
I can't stand it!!!!!
Hear anything else good??

Could you be a little more vague? The Omnia II was coming to Verizon in August. A whole season (plus) later, it arrived. How about some specs or dates? Otherwise, this is as useless as the Passion rumor from mid-November.
The Droid Incredible by HTC?
The Incredible Droid by HTC?
I dunno...
Incredible name + Incredible specs = Incredible cost.
This better be a doozy VZW.
Some very compelling evidence that the Bravo = Incredible is here: http://bit.ly/5u5Bdo
The questions that remain are when and where? I really hope we the answer to where is VZW, but that assumes gadget's source is not FOS
Well this all but confirms the alledged HTC beast we all hoped for. The evidence is all there. The leaked rom, the leaked HTC Bravo information, and the rumors of the Verizon Passion. The Passion is the Bravo, and according to the leaked pictures of the HTC brochure, the Bravo and the Incredible are the same phone.
HTC incredible is running on Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, and as our tipster confirms, it's running with a Snapdragon CPU (and is described as "fast, really fast") with 256MB of RAM, and has a 3.5-3.7" WVGA screen.
Not so shabby indeed. More details: http://bit.ly/htc-incredible-details
