Massively's EVE Online Tyrannis contest, part 1: The planets of EVE

The planets and moons of EVE Online received a major graphical overhaul in the Dominion expansion, with some impressive results. Those previously boring brown-gray blobs in space were transformed into lush paradise worlds, frozen wastelands, hellish volcanic planets and more. When the Tyrannis expansion launches on May 18th, EVE players will finally get to interact with the new and improved planets, exploiting them for their natural resources. With the launch of Tyrannis just around the corner, Massively have teamed up with CCP Games to bring you a series of three exciting contests. Each Saturday from now until May 15th, we'll be running a new competition where readers can win some in-game pilot's licenses. The licenses can be redeemed to add 30 days of game time to your EVE account or sold on the market for a quick 300 million ISK.

For details of how to enter the contest and full submission guidelines, read after the break.

UPDATE: Due to the popularity of this contest and CCP's generosity, we're expanding the prize total to ten pilot's licenses. Instead of five winners, we'll have ten!
UPDATE#2: Entry to the contest is now closed!

Our international readers will be pleased to hear that all of our Tyrannis launch contests will be open to players from any country. We have a ton of licenses to give away and to increase your chances of winning, we're spreading them over as many readers as possible. This week we're starting small with five licenses to be won by five lucky entrants. To be in with a chance to win, all you have to do is take a screenshot featuring one of EVE's awesome planets or moons. Pictures with interesting scene composition or action going on in the foreground will be more likely to win than a plain old planet close-up.

Submissions should be sent via email to brendan AT massively DOT com along with the name of one of your EVE characters. You can either attach your screenshot to the email or upload it to EVE-Files or any other image hosting service and send me a link. If you're one of the five lucky winners, the character you named will receive one 30-day pilot's license courtesy of CCP Games. The deadline for entry is Friday 7th May at 8PM and winners will be announced the following day when part 2 of our Tyrannis contest series goes live.

Submission guidelines:

  • The contest is open to players from any country.

  • The deadline for entering is Friday 7th May at 8PM EDT.

  • Entrants will require an active EVE Online account to receive the prize.

  • Entries must be sent via email to brendan AT massively DOT com

  • Entries should consist of one EVE screenshot with a planet or moon as a prominent feature.

  • Screenshots may be attached to the submission email or uploaded to an image hosting service like EVE-Files. I will respond to every entry within 12 hours confirming that you're entered in the competition.

  • Include with your entry the name of the EVE character you'd like to receive the prize on if you win. The character names of the winners will be sent to CCP Games, who will deliver your prizes in-game. Entries without a character name are ineligible to win.

  • Do NOT include your EVE account name with your entry, we only need a character name. We will also never ask you for your password.

  • Readers are free to enter all three contests but please only enter each once. Additional entries will be discarded.

  • The contest will be judged by the Massively staff. The winners will be our five favourite screenshots.

  • The contest is not open to current or former employees of Massively or AOL/Weblogs, Inc.

  • Massively will announce the winners in this post at the end of the contest period along with a gallery of the winning screenshots.

Good luck to everyone entering the competition and stay tuned for next week's exciting contest on May 8th with ten prizes to be won!

UPDATE:
Some people are unable to attach large screenshots to an email. If this is the case, please upload your screenshot to EVE-Files or another image hosting service and put a link to the image in your email to me. I will respond to every email entry confirming that I've received your screenshot.
