Samsung BD-C6900 Blu-ray player eyes-on
While some would ask "why put a transparent panel and lamp in your Blu-ray player to show the disk spinning," Samsung asks why not. Check out a few slick press pics and shots at Samsung's CES booth of the 3D BD-C6900 player busily playing a The Incredibles demo reel and ponder what this means for the theory of Schrodinger's Disc.

Let me guess: $500?
All of this 3D talk is somewhat getting me in the mood for it (though I still don't want to wear glasses). However I, like a good portion of the country, just bought a new TV and don't plan on buying another one for years provided the one I have continues to work.
I could do it cheaper with a sheet of plexiglas, a Dremel and some super glue.
With the rest of the dumb things that Samsung is doing with their BD Players this latest oogle does not surprise me. After dumping the SiliconOptix REON chip in favor of their own (insert majorLOL!) I no longer am interested in anything other than their Monitors.
Somebody has to be the clown in the circus.
Pfft, CD players from the 90's did that.
Whenever I consider at a Samsung product, I remember their horrible SlimFit TV I had owned, which resulted from their poor quality control [at that time]. I may be in the market for a Blu-ray player in the near future, and although this looks cool, I won't bring myself to buy their products after the bad experience with them. My loss, maybe. :(
@Scuba I wont be first in line to buy and dvd player/ blu-ray player from Samsung. The orginal blu-ray died on me in 8 months and i have 2 separate dvd payers last less then 2 years. I know i watch more dvds then regular people put that is pathetic. Ill wait ad get another Panny or maybe a Sony
FUGLY
And I usually love Samsung products...however this is the only 3D one right?
I'm kinda hoping 3D fails big time now...sorta pissed off at the whole thing. I mean the tvs themselves won't be enough for the 3D effect. You'll have to have the glasses too right? So if I invite friends over what am I supposed to? Tell everyone else "too bad so sad"? Or order em to buy their own pairs? Or cough up the money myself to get 15 pairs of 3D glasses just for 1 freaking tv show or sports event?
None of those options are appealing or good.
In short this 3D fad that the industry is trying to force onto the consumers is the worst thing I've seen in years. I hope they fail miserably...
has any 3D equipment at CES been priced yet?
@JeremyBenthem Yes, the 72" Vizio was priced today at $3,499. You can check out the story here:

Unrelated but....how did they get The Incredibles on Blu-Ray? I want that...
@inevercheckthis
from samsung.com for a limited time u can get Incredibles on Blu-ray. lol. Or its just a mistake on Engadgets part since that is Monsters vs Aliens
@inevercheckthis
Shinn is right, the reflection in the first picture is from Monsters vs. Aliens, not The Incredibles. I also searched samsung.com and didn't find any promotions involving The Incredibles on blu-ray, just a promotion involving Ratatouille (sp?) where The Incredibles was mentioned in passing.
@inevercheckthis can't wait til Disney Releases "The Incredibles" on Blu-ray
Does the lip pop open like PlayStation 1 or is a slider tray. I have not seen any news mention of receiver supporting the hd 3d format. Does this mean if i hook this play up to my Denon receiver and have receiver pass along the video feed it will still play in 3d on the set?
